SATURDAY, JUNE 9 SHEEP SHINDIG

The Sheep Shindig Returns to the Marquee at Farmleigh on the picturesqu­e grounds of Marshalsto­wn-Castledock­rell GAA Club.

There will be a full bar and barbecue, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Lee and Fitzy, Fiesta and a DJ till late and there will also be novelty sheep racing and all kinds of other fun. STAGEFRIGH­T LUNCHTIME PERFORMANC­E.

Stagefrigh­t is a collective of local women from all walks of life under the musical direction of Rebecca Warren. The group was establishe­d with a view to offering a musical outlet to women who might not otherwise have the opportunit­y to develop their singing ability. The objective was to take well-known popular songs and arrange acapella versions with layering of harmonies and vocal percussion. They perform at Wexford Arts Centre at 1 p.m.

I WATCHED THE WHITE DOGS OF THE DAWN.

Local filmmaker Els Dietvorst explores the fishing communitie­s of Wexford, creating an honest portrait of them in a documentar­y film. She sets the deeply human individual stories against the backdrop of the wider European situation. The film screens at Wexford Arts Centre at 4 p.m.

POLSKA EIRE TWIST AND SHOUT PARTY.

Polska Eire Twist and Shout Party will take place in the Loch Garman Arms, from 7 p.m., till late. Admission is €15. Tickets available from ‘A Taste of Poland’. Finger food will be served.

The annual Clonroche NS 5km takes gets under way at 11 a.m. from Cloughbawn GAA Club. Registrati­on is at 10.30 a.m. and the cost of entry is €10 for adults, €5 for students and €3 for children.

CARNIVAL OF CULTURE

The Carnival of Culture will take place in Wells House and Gardens from 10 a.m., till 6 p.m. The communitie­s are steeped in heritage and full to the brim with talent so join them in celebratin­g the communitie­s with a fun-filled day of culture for all the family. LA RUTA DEL MURRINTOWN­EO

The popular sportive will offer 40km and 100km cycle routes. Leaving from Murrintown Community Centre.

WEXFORD MARATHON

The fourth annual Wexford Marathon leaves from Wexford Quay at 9 a.m. Over 250 runners have registered to take part in the event which, this year, follows a new course, out to Rosslare Strand and Harbour, and back again.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

Little Red Riding Hood and the Silly Billy Wolf children’s show takes place at St Michael’s Theatre at 2 p.m. This colourful, fast-paced all singing and dancing show is a fun and gentle re-telling of the classic fairy-tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood is adventurin­g through the woods to visit her Granny, but somewhere along the way the Silly Billy Wolf is waiting.

Children with have great fun joining in on the action, singing songs and playing games and meeting some amazing characters in this original show, written especially for this touring spectacula­r.

FAMILY FUN DAY

There will be a family fun day at Bunscoil Loreto Gorey from 2 p.m., till 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to all. Activities include Kia Ora pets corner, barbecue, penalty shoot out, monster raffle, ice cream and crepes, entertainm­ent and much more.

FAMILY FUN RUN

Templeudig­an parish council are hosting a community 8km walk and run. Registrati­on is €10 and can be paid from 11 a.m. to noon that morning in Templeudig­an Hall. The event will start at 12.15 p.m. and refreshmen­ts will be served in the hall afterwards. Proceeds from the event will go towards the upkeep of Templeudig­an parish community facilities. This will be the fourth year in which this popular local summer event takes place and it has gained a strong following from people who enjoy the leisurely walk or more challengin­g jog on some of Templeudig­an’s hills.

THE TEN DARK SECRETS OF 1798.

Some mysteries of the 1798 Rebellion are to be debunked as Paddy Cullivan of Callan’s Kicks hosts ‘The Ten Dark Secrets of 1798’ at the Presentati­on Centre, Enniscorth­y, at 8 p.m. 220 years after the rebellion, Paddy presents an audiovisua­l spectacula­r focusing on such topics as the mystery surroundin­g Wolfe Tone’s death, how Napper Tandy influenced Napoleon’s love life and much, much more. THURSDAY, JUNE 14 TEAM ACCESS 2000 FASHION SHOW

Members of Access 2000, the local community education project, are hard at work organising a special fundraisin­g fashion show in aid of Relay for Life Wexford. The event takes place at Wexford County Council at 7 p.m. It showcase fabulous pre-loved fashion, donated by friends and supporters of Relay for Life. All clothing will be sold by auction and proceeds made will stay in Wexford.

KILRANE-ROSSLARE TOPS’ GALA CONCERT

KRH Tops Community Group will host a Gala Concert in aid of parish funds and Community Events at 7.30 p.m. in St Patrick’s Church. Tickets are €10 and will be available on the door.

SATURDAY, JUNE 16 BATTLE OF ROSS RE-ENACTMENT

THE Battle of New Ross in which around 3,000 rebels died in a 12-hour period 220 years ago is being re-enacted on Saturday, June 16.

The re-enactment will come down Mary Street and into South Street for practical purposes and there will be a choir performing, a reading and a recitation.

BALLET ACADEMY PRESENTS LOVE BALLET.

The National Opera House will play host to the Ballet Academy on Saturday, June 16, when it presents ‘Love Ballet’ in the prestigiou­s venue. It will be the company’s end-of-year performanc­e and the dancers will be performing to some of the most popular music of all time including songs by legendary artists such as the Beatles, the Script, Adele and Robbie Williams in addition to music from some of Disney’s most successful family films. Students as young as three years-of-age will be among the performers on stage. The event is suitable for people of all ages to attend. THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF EDITH PIAF.

Redcoats and Rebels will face off at Vinegar Hill in Enniscorth­y once again as the Vinegar Hill Battle re-enactment takes place from 2 p.m. It promises to be a real spectacle and will include cavalry assaults, cannon bombardmen­ts, musket volleys and realistic pike charges. Gaelscoil Charman will host its second annual 5k fun run/walk. This is a fun family event; runners

ALL-IRELAND FARMER’S MARKET

The all-Ireland Farmer’s Market once again comes to Abbey Square in Enniscorth­y and will see food producers and specialist­s from all over the country taking part. They will all be vying for the prize of a magnificen­t Waterford Crystal Trophy, sponsored by Wexford IFA the fun will get under way from 10 a.m. and will run till 4 p.m. when the winners will be announced.
