DRAMA GROUP AGM

Bridge Drama will hold their annual general meeting this Wednesday, June 6, at 8.30 p.m in the Porter House, Castlebrid­ge. If anyone is interested in joining Bridge Drama, this might be a great opportunit­y to meet the group.

SHELMALIER GAA NEWS

Well done to Luke Roche on winning the Wexford Féile Hurling skills on Thursday last and to Adam Murphy, who competed well in the Football.

There was no winner of the lotto for May 21 with the numbers drawn being 12, 18, 25 and 27. There were no match-three winners. The next jackpot will be €4,200 and €400 being divided between the match-three winners.

Well done to the rising stars of the under-15 hurling team who had a good win over Gorey on Wednesday night of last week on a scoreline of 5-4 to 0-7. The boys showed good attitude with some great defending midfield and forward play. The goal men also played well with some fine puck outs. The attitude and work rate were the things that were evident to see. These boys train well and will continue to improve and will have a big contributi­on to make to the club for many years to come.

DEVELOPMEN­T LOTTO

Results of the Curracloe United lotto draw for Sunday, May 27, The numbers drawn were 3, 4, 5 and 11.

There was no jackpot winner and five match-three winners who each received €30, Kevin and Brian O’Connor, Garrylough, Screen; Adam Kavanagh, Screen; Ruth O’Leary, c/o Donal; Sinéad Doyle, Ballyvaloo; Beth Doyle, Lyrane, Curracloe. The weekly draw takes place every Sunday night at 9 p.m.

CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

Active Flag week was held in the school last week and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. Activities included a bouncy castle (thank you to Liam O’Connor All Star Bouncy Castles – who supplied it free of charge), gymnastics, cricket (thank you to Herbie Holohan), tag rugby (thank you to Corey Carty), yoga (thank you to Helen Dunlea – Duffy), swimming (thank you to Ferrybank Swimming Pool), self defence (thank you to Dermot Malone) and dadminton.

Sports Day took place on Thursday. Thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day and throughout the week, and to the parents’ associatio­n who provided an ice cream van.

On Thursday also, the school Active Flag was raised by local celebrity Simon Donohoe, who also presented the swimming certificat­es. The final activities took place at Curracloe beach on Friday (thank you to Jack Tim Murphy, Surf Shack), then back to school for an outdoor disco and presentati­on of certificat­es. Well done to all involved.

Congratula­tions to Johnny Curran, who won €91.50c in the split-the-pot draw held on May 23 and to Tess O’Carroll, who won €175 in the last draw for this school year which was held on sports day. Many thanks to everyone who supported and helped with the weekly draw, and thanks also to the local businesses in Curracloe for their support. The draw will resume again in the new school year.

SUMMER CAMP

The FAI summer soccer camp is back for six- to 14-year-old boys and girls from August 13 to August 17 and takes place at the Bridge Rovers grounds in Castlebrid­ge. Book now at summersocc­erschools.ie book early as this camp sold out for the last two years.

GARDEN EVENING

Castlebrid­ge Show committee are holding a garden evening with Syl Doyle of Wilton nursery, Bree, on Wednesday, June 20, in the Community Garden Castlebrid­ge at 7.30 p.m. Syl will do a walk and talk evening around the gardens and answer any questions you may have. He will also have a selection of plants for sale. Tea, coffee and some delicious home baking will be served after the talk and admission is free. The committee look forward to seeing you there.
