Ta­lented young pupils re­ceive top awards in the Tex­aco Chil­dren’s Art Com­pe­ti­tion

FOUR ta­lented Wex­ford stu­dents have been pre­sented with top awards in this year’s 64th Tex­aco Chil­dren’s Art Com­pe­ti­tion.

The four all scored top marks in the pres­ti­gious art com­pe­ti­tion.

Six-year-old Cal­lum Leonard, a pupil at Bun­scoil Loreto, Gorey, won first prize in the 6-years and un­der age cat­e­gory of the com­pe­ti­tion. Cal­lum scooped the top prize for his draw­ing of ‘Boy of a Skate­board’. He was pre­sented with his award by Min­is­ter for Cul­ture, Josepha Madi­gan and James Twohig, Di­rec­tor Ire­land Op­er­a­tions at Valero.

Three other pupils re­ceived Spe­cial Merit Awards in their re­spec­tive cat­e­gories at the re­cep­tion.

Ten-year-old Maya Ru­bin-Rahn from Gorey Ed­u­cate To­gether was recog­nised for her draw­ing ‘My Tem­per­a­ment’. Jamie Dunne (7) from Bun­scoil Loreto, Gorey re­ceived the award for her draw­ing of ‘Rosie, My Teddy’ and the fi­nal Spe­cial Merit award went to five-year-old Jack Bates from Art­mak­ers, Kil­more for his draw­ing ‘Prickly Pear’.
