Junior choir at Barntown Church scoop silver medal
THE junior choir at Barntown Church were the silver medal winners in the All Ireland Community Games competition final in Limerick.
In its first year - under the careful and talented tutelage of local school teacher Ann Stamp - the choir is still forming and looks set to grow from strength to strength in the years ahead.
The young singers get plenty of support from the parishioners attending the 11 a.m. Mass in Barntown as well as their families.
Local curate Fr. John Carroll said that ‘this choir is a shining gem among the many parish based groups and individuals within Barntown Curacy who strive weekly to give of their best across a multiplicity of endeavours - from church maintenance and enhancement, to school building and oversight and teaching, sports facility provision and development.’
Fr. Carroll thanked Ms. Stamp and her co-workers and he spoke of the many blessings and opportunities that the road ahead will provide. The day of the competition has been great fun with plenty of singing on the bus on the way home.
