BATTLE OF ROSS RE-ENACTMENT

The Battle of New Ross in which around 3,000 rebels died within a 12-hour period 220 years ago is being re-enacted on Saturday, June 16.

The re-enactment will come down Mary Street and into South Street for practical purposes and there will be a choir performing, a reading and a recitation.

BALLET ACADEMY PRESENTS LOVE BALLET.

The National Opera House will play host to the Ballet Academy on Saturday, June 16, when it presents ‘Love Ballet’ in the prestigiou­s venue. It will be the company’s end-of-year performanc­e and the dancers will be performing to some of the most popular music of all time including songs by legendary artists such as the Beatles, the Script, Adele and Robbie Williams in addition to music from some of Disney’s most successful family films. Students as young as three years-of-age will be among the performers on stage. The event is suitable for people of all ages to attend. THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF EDITH PIAF.

Chanteuse Derby Browne will perform her personal tribute to Edith Piaf in the National Opera House on Saturday, June 16, at 8 p.m. The show will feature some of the legendary singer’s greatest works including ‘La Vie En Rose’, ‘No Regrets’, ‘autumn Leaves’ and ‘Under the Bridges of Paris’. GOREY AGRICULTUR­AL SHOW

Preparatio­ns for the 159th Gorey Agricultur­al Show are well under way. The show will take place in Clonattin and this year there will be entertainm­ent all day on the stage from Theresa and the Stars, Louise Morrissey and the Thunderbir­ds. LUNCHTIME CONCERT

There will be a lunchtime soprano concert at St Francis Friary at 1 p.m.

The concert which will feature

Irish sopraNumbe­rs Patricia Goggins and Ruth Gallagher as well as pianist Eithne Corrigan.

The trio will present a programme of vocal duets from Monteverdi, Mozart, Offenbach, Moore and Sue Furlong and the concert will also feature the CWSM Quartet. Tickets for the concert are available on the door.
