Trad folk group in Enniscorthy
LANKUM, a four-piece traditional folk group from Dublin, will play the Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy, on Friday, June 22, at 8.30 p.m.
The quartet combine distinctive four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, Russian accordion, fiddle and guitar. Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin music-hall ditties and street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, as well as their own their own original material.
They are chiefly an acoustic group with a repertoire based primarily on traditional song and influenced by legends such as Frank Harte, Planxty, The Dubliners and the Watersons. But subtle traces of other influences can also be detected, from American old-timey music, krautrock, ambient techno and psychedelic folk, to black metal, drone, punk and rock’n’roll.
Tickets for the evening are €20.
