KILMORE A.C.
Congratulations to Suzanne Foley on knocking 79 seconds off for a new personal best of 51.48 minutes in the Dublin women’s mini marathon on June 3. It was a great time on a very hot day, so well done.
Well done also to Paula and Shauna Cousins who finished together in memory of their grandad, and in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, in a time of one hour eleven minutes at the same event.
Once again Kilmore A.C. will be running their annual 10k race, on September 15. This year it is our 85th anniversary which adds to the occasion.
Online registration opens shortly. We are seeking sponsorship for the race. If you have any queries or if you are interested in becoming a race sponsor, please e-mail us at kilmoreathleticsclub@gmail.com
Congratulations to the women’s Masters team of Helen Doyle, Jackie Carthy and Sinéad O’Brien in the county final 4k in Ferns.
Not only winning first place in the teams section, Kilmore also won first and second individual for Helen and Jackie respectively. In particular, Helen provided us with a spectacular sprint finish to secure her silver medal.
Other female runners included Fidelma Rossiter and Suzanne Foley who ran steady races also. Suzanne shook off her 10 km P.B. last weekend for half the distance and more speed.
The men also gave a good account of themselves in their 6k run on a windless evening, with ‘secretive’ slopes on the course. K.A.C. men running were: Michael O’Flaherty, Niall Crosbie, Nicky Foley, Adrian Reville and Kevin Walsh. Well done also lads!
Ladies (4k): 1, Jackie Carthy, 15:23; 2, Helen Doyle, 16:22; 7, Sinéad O’Brien, 16:50; 12, Fidelma Rossiter, 17:12; 28, Suzanne Foley, 19:54.
Men (6k): 25, Michael O’Flaherty, 22:37; 37, Niall Crosbie, 24:32; 42, Nicky Foley, 25:19; 44, Adrian Reville, 25:35; 60, Kevin Walsh, 31:20.
Congratulations to Katie Foley, our sole representative at the Leinster Under-12 and Under-13 championships in Tullamore. Katie did her family and club very proud, running a great Under-12 600m race in a time of 2:18!
Next weekend will be another busy one for Kilmore A.C. On Saturday, Fiona Kehoe will be in action in the Irish Milers’ Club Le Chéile international 800m in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. Good luck Fiona!
On both Saturday and Sunday, several Juvenile athletes will be in action in various events at the Leinster championships in Tullamore. Good luck to all competing.
WANDERERS CRICKET
Wexford Wanderers continued their fine start to the season with a convincing 81-run victory over Merrion in a high-scoring Leinster League tie played at Bird Avenue.

In reply, Merrion made a valiant effort and ended up on 241 for five off their 40 overs.
Meanwhile, the second eleven came agonisingly close to recording their first league win of the year when they were defeated by four wickets away to Portlaoise.
Wexford batted first and a magnificent 106 by skipper Paul Wise and hard-hitting 54 by Anjith Varghese
