The holiday weekend attracted a huge crowd to Rosslare, and well over 500 players took part in the three-day golf festival in ideal weather conditions.

The course was perfect, and scoring was good.

Congratula­tions to the Junior Cup team of Niamh, Angela, Joan, Susan and Doreen, their managers Kitty Roche and Bena Hall, substitute­s Valerie and Eileen, on a terrific win against Gowran on Sunday.

It was a wonderfull­y competitiv­e and sporting match, played in Enniscorth­y in superb conditions.

The fine weather looks set to continue for today (Tuesday’s) competitio­n, a ladies’ foursomes Countess of Granard stableford sponsored by N.C.B.I. and Wallace’s SuperValu, with the prize-giving this evening.

Fixtures: June 13, open singles, ladies and gents, stableford; June 15, open Seniors, ladies and gents; June 19, ladies’ singles, stableford/Pro-Am qualifier, sponsored by Marie Therese Swan.

The highlight of the week, however, will be our esteemed lady President’s (Kitty Roche) prize on Saturday, June 16, strokes/G.O.Y./medal.

An exciting social evening will follow with a delectable menu from our caterers, fine wines, many prizes, music and dancing, not forgetting the style which is always stunning!

It’s a night not to be missed, so hopefully our lady members will be out in force.

WEXFORD

Ryan Cashin (11) and Alex Currid (24) kept up their good form by winning the bank holiday team event, with the help of Seamus Byrne (28) and Brian Reilly (28), with 94 points.

The ladies’ team of Louise Boshoff (15), Maggie Hearne (14), Mary McMahon (38) and Martina Foley (34) came second with 91 points.

Joe Ryan (16), Michael Moran (21), Anthony Dowd (14) and Brendan McCarry (24) took third with 88 points.

Wednesday’s fourball was won by Ian Nolan (12) and Franny Thomas (8) with 35 points on the back six.

Saturday’s 18-hole fourball was won by David Currid (18) and Mark O’Leary (17) with 47 points on the back nine from prolific fourball winners Jimmy ‘Tiger’ Thomas (20) and John McNicholas (24), also with 47 points.

Alex Currid maintained his fine form in The Talbot monthly medal, winning with a great score of 62. Leo Connolly (2) won the category below 10 handicap with 70 nett.

Michael Leniston (13) won the 10-18 category with 71, while Michael Moran (21) won 19 plus with 68 on the back six. Rhys Clarke won the gross with 72.

Pat M. Murphy had a hole-in-one on the ninth. Congratula­tions to Kevin Maher (Dunmurray Springs) who won €100 in Sunday night’s Joker draw.

The Captain’s (Jack Lynn) prize is on June 23, and tickets are available at the bar. Tickets for the club draw, with details on Facebook and the website, are also available in the bar.

WEXFORD LADIES

As the good weather continues and the course dries out, some great golf and low scores are being recorded.

Thursday, June 7, saw an 18-hole strokes (medal) and free sub competitio­n sponsored by the ladies’ section, La Cote and Forge Craft Shop.

Results: 1, Deirdre Greer (30), 67; 2, Ena O’Donoghue (30), 69; 3, Sheila Richardson (8), 71; gross, Aisling O’Leary (1), 77; 4, Sally O’Neill (19), 74 (back nine); Senior, Mary Cotter (35), 75.

The nine-hole competitio­n was won by Noreen Power (16), 22 points. A total of 70 played and the C.S.S. was 73.

Nearest the pin was Ruth Kennedy with 2 metres 79 cm. Congratula­tions to all the winners!

Please remember to put your score in the computer after you finish your game (even if you are posting a no return). The competitio­n cannot be closed until all cards are returned.

The entry fee for the open Solheim Cup competitio­n on Thursday, June 14, is €7.50 for members and €10 for visitors. Please encourage your friends from visiting clubs to come and play in this very enjoyable competitio­n.

The second round of the ladies’ super six shoot-out takes place from 6 p.m. on Monday, June 18.

A reminder that the timesheet for the President’s prize to the ladies, single strokes medal, on Thursday, June 21, is open.

The next ladies’ inter-club match is on Sunday, June 17, when the Boyne Trophy team will play Courtown, with three games at home and two away.

Tee-times are 3 p.m. in Wexford and 3.30 p.m. in Courtown. Best of luck to everyone involved and please come out and support the team.

Tickets for the super holiday draw are available in the clubhouse. All members are asked to sell two tickets each.

Winners can either take the holiday or the cash value. All members are asked to support this draw as it is an important fundraiser for the club.
