BREE AC

Well done to Bree AC members who travelled to Ballon AC Open Sports on Sunday last. The club retained the best club Relays trophy. Well done also to the four teams which competed in the Leinster Team event in Tullamore on the Bank Holiday. The boys’ team of Jayden Kenny, Jack Doyle, PJ Breen and James Wall were first, the girls under-11 team of Maura Doyle, Ciara Laffan, Kiera Wilson and Lea Bolger were second, the under-13 team of Abbie Doyle, Gracie Kehoe, Katie Doyle and Grace Donohoe were third and the boys under-nine of Fergal Doyle, Billy Doyle, Shane Laffan and Aidan Wall were fourth.

The under 9-13 athletes are in action in Tullamore again this weekend and some of the under 12-19 athletes will be there once more next weekend for their Leinster Championships. Best of luck to all Bree AC athletes involved.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Hard luck to the under-11 Bree-Davidstown Cloughbawn Hurling team of Bill Blyth, James Breen, Laurence Cloke, Tom Dunne, Conn Fraser, Ben Kavanagh, Jack Kavanagh, Charlie Kehoe, James Killeen, Darragh Kirwan, Eoin O’Farrell, Darragh Regan, Conor Ryan, Barry Sweetman, Ollie Treacy and Seán Vaughan, who were beaten by one point by Rathgarogue-Cushinstown in Cushinstown on the Bank Holiday in the Community Games Hurling county final.

It was a great exhibition of hurling and it was score for score at either end throughout the match. Unfortunately, for the local team the last puck of the match was a goal scored by the opposition when Bree-Davidstown and Cloughbawn had been leading by two points. The boys were presented with Co silver medals. Team mentors were James Breen and Séamus Killeen. Well done to all involved.

Best wishes to the local under-10 Football team representing Co Wexford in the South Leinster final next weekend. The Co Athletic Finals take place in Enniscorthy on Sunday, June 24, starting at 10 a.m. with the parade. The local area will be well represented.
