BannowBall­ymitty DANCE

There will be dancing in Carrig community centre on Friday, June 15, from 9 p.m. Music on the night is by Art Supple (formally the Victors Showband). All proceeds will go towards providing equipment for the new Autism class in Ballymitty. Please support this worthy cause.

MONSTER BINGO

The next Monster Bingo is on Sunday, June 17, at 3 p.m. in Ballymitty Hall. €1,500 in prizes including Special page; €50 one line, €100 for two lines and €150 full house. Raffle and lots of prizes. Tea and sandwiches served.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €5,600 to be won. Tickets are only two euro each and can be purchased from the post office Carrig, Tír na nÓg Seabreeze drycleaner­s and from any Club Officer down in the complex.

Our underage are flying it at the moment with wins and great teamwork. Under-12 camogie travelled up to St James and secured a win on Saturday last. The under-13 boys hurled against Cloughbawn at home and had a two goal advantage over them. The under-nine s went to St Martin’s and played fantastic hurling from all the players. Keep up the good work.

The junior ladies took a big win away to St Fintan’s last week in their league match but it wasn’t the case when we hosted St Fintan’s at home on Tuesday last they took the points final score five points to us 2-10 to St Fintan’s.

The Intermedia­te Football team lost to St James in Grantstown on Friday a bit of team bonding was had after the game with a bbq for the team. Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way on the night.

Upcoming Events in Grantstown Community Village – Tuesday the 12th: Mass at 11.30 a.m. as well as exercises in the morning and Pongo in the afternoon. Wednesday the 13th: Pongo in the morning and cards and gamesin the afternoon. Thursday the 14th: Pongo in the morning and a talk on food waste presented by Betty Kehoe in the afternoon. Monday the 18th: Exercise with Mairead and Cards/Art in the morning and Pongo in the afternoon.

STOP FOOD WASTE

The Stop Food Waste Challenge is a programme that supports householde­rs to reduce the amount of food they waste.

Betty Kehoe from the Environmen­tal Protection Agency is giving a series of talks, which started on Thursday, May 31. They are on from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. for four weeks in Grantstown Daycare Centre on Thursdays.

The talks will include tips on saving from €700 to €1,000 per year. She will also give recipes on how to use leftovers, how to reduce your shopping list and lots of other Ideas. Please contact Grantstown Daycare Centre at 051 561016 if you wish to attend.

SOCIAL EVENING

A Social Evening will be held at Mary Teresa Redmond’s, Mill View, Foulksmill­s on Saturday, June 30, Starting at 4 p.m. and continuing on till 9 p.m.There will be choral, traditiona­l and folk music/singing with some comedy acts also. Children will be entertaine­d with a puppet show, a bouncy castle and face painting throughout the afternoon. Admission is by donation. There will be a monster raffle on the day with numerous prizes.

All proceeds are in aid of Co. Wexford Community Workshop. (Enniscorth­y).

DANCING

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday, June 14, by Delta Dawn, June 21 Tom Murphy’s band, June 28 Johnny Mullen from Westmeath.

DEATHS

This week two of our parishione­rs from the Blackhall road sadly passed away.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Shally Boyse, who was in her 97th year. Shally was the Beloved wife of the late Simon and mother of Mary, Kathleen, Simon, Pat and Willie. Sadly missed by her loving family she reposed at her residence on Friday, June 1, with removal on Saturday, June 2, at 6.30 p.m. to the Church of Mary Immaculate and St Joseph, Carrig-on-Bannow. Funeral Mass was on Sunday, June 3, at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Bannow cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Her neighbour Ingrid Lauterbach passed away on Thursday, May 31, and she was waked at her residence on Saturday afternoon. Her removal was on Sunday to Bannow cemetery for funeral ceremony and burial. Ingrid is survived by her son Philip and her family in Germany and her many friends. May she rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to Christine Devereux on the death of her father Nicholas Crosbie and to his sister Gertie Doyle also. Nicholas was waked in Ryan’s funeral parlour on Sunday with removal to Ramsgrange church at 7 p.m. Sunday evening with funeral Mass on Monday at midday and burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

COFFEE MORNING THANKS

Thanks to everyone who supported the recent coffee morning and cake sale in aid of the Irish Cancer Society in Carrig hall. A total of €2,600 was raised.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Bannow Historical Society will host a historical talk by Mr Emmett Stafford on the Norman landing in Bannow in 1169 and others areas in the parish in Tir na Nog Wellington­bridge on Wednesday June 20 at 8.30 p.m.

This year’s historical tour will take place on Saturday July 14 and will visit Woodstock House ib Inistioge, St Mary’s church, Gowran and the Walsh Distillery, Royal Oak.

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €11,400. The winning numbers were 13, 19, 20 and 32. There were no matchthree winners, next week matchthree winners will win or Share €400. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, June 12, and the jackpot now stands at €11,600.

CÚL CAMP

This year’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp for both boys and girls covering Football, Hurling and camogie will take place in St Anne’s GAA Club Grounds from Monday, July 16, to Friday, July 20. Children will get to learn GAA games from qualified coaches in a safe and fun environmen­t. Children from six to 13 years. The official opening of the Hurling Wall and Ball Alley takes place on Sunday, August 5. The day starts with a ‘Dawn Walk’ in Conjunctio­n with ‘ASK’ from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., followed by light refreshmen­ts and entertainm­ent From 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Then there will be an afternoon and evening of entertainm­ent for all the family from 2.30 p.m. Including fun matches between girls and boys, Wall Ball Competitio­n, Bouncy Castle, barbecue – Shop – Tea or coffee, music.
