MMM Bop gave Tulsa, Oklahoma, brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac the number one spot in 27 countries, including the US, UK and Ireland. The young Hanson brothers’ debut single, it was nominated for three Grammys and topped many end-ofyear critics’ polls. The song contributed to the huge success of the album Middle Of Nowhere which sold 10 million copies around the globe. To mark the achievement, May 6, the date of the album’s release, was declared ‘Hanson Day’ in Tulsa by Oklahoma’s governor Frank Keating. Hanson followed MMM Bop with a couple of UK top ten singles in 1997 but subsequent releases have failed to make any major chart impact.
