Ross District round-up LADIES’ FOOTBALL FIXTURES

-

THE NEW Ross District Junior ‘B’ hurling championship resumes this week following the recent break for the exams.

The table could not be much tighter, with St. James’ and St. Mogue’s (Fethard) tied at the top on four points each, with Rathgarogue-Cushinstown and Geraldine O`Hanrahans following closely on three points apiece.

St. James’ have an extra game played but their fixture away to Fethard this week could have a large bearing on the eventual layout of the table.

The other New Ross competitions exclusive to the District in hurling and football are now also reaching completion.

There will be a new name going on the Tommy Murphy Cup this year, with Horeswood and St. James’ having qualified for the final of this football competition.

Horeswood brushed aside the holders, Gusserane, in their semi, while St. James’ had a thrilling extra-time victory over neighbours Fethard in their game.

The second tier competition will see Clongeen take on Taghmon-Camross in the Tom Hickey shield where local bragging rights will be up for grabs.

The Foxe Cup is the prize in hurling, and the semi-final pairings will see Gusserane O`Rahilly’s take on Taghmon-Camross, while the holders, St. Mogue’s (Fethard), will play Horeswood.

The second tier in the hurling is also at the semi-final stage. St. James’ will play Clongeen and Bannow-Ballymitty take on Geraldine O`Hanrahans, with the winners competing in the final of the Jamesie Kinsella Cup.

There’s still plenty to play for in the Ross District!
