Ballymurn PATRON

The Ballymurn Patron will take place on Sunday, August 12, at 2 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS

Ballymurn Tidy Towns would like to thank those that contributed to the collection box in the shop. The amount collected was €116. 80. Thanks to peter for facilitating this collection. The money was used for buying some of the flowers for the tubs in the village. We will be having a visit from the adjudicators in the next couple of weeks so we need to keep the village and surrounding areas clean and litter-free. We are in the process of getting two seats made for the village and we hope they will enhance the overall look of the village.

Blackwater GAA NOTES

The Blackwater 5k/10k run is on this Sunday morning. Make sure and get down to the field at 10 a.m.

Intermediate hurlers play HWH Bunclody at 8 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) in Bunclody. On Thursday the under-13 footballers play Buffers Alley at 7.30 in Monamolin. On Friday the junior b hurlers play Shelmaliers at 7.30 in our pitch in the Junior B championship. On Sunday morning the intermediate hurlers play Oulart-The Ballagh at 11.30 a.m. On Monday it’s the return of the minor football championship when we play Glynn-Barntown at 7.30 p.m. in Kilurin.

Our Intermediate hurlers lost out to Eire Óg from Kildare in the Division 3 Leinster League Final in James Stephens pitch in Kilkenny. They led for most of the game but lost out by four in the end. The final score didn’t reflect the closeness of the game.

The junior B hurlers enjoyed a good win against St Patrick’s Camolin in the league winning 2-15 to 1-07. St Pat’s were undefeated so far this year. James Dooley and Jake Nobbs with the goals. It puts the lads back top of the table with one game to go against Liam Mellows.

Unfortunately Scoil Naomh Bhríde lost out in the Roinn B Rackard League Hurling Final to Rathnure by eight points. The boys led by one at the break but couldn’t hold onto to the lead in the second half. Dean Wright managed the Rathnure team while there was plenty of local interest in the Roinn A final with Áine Wright involved with the Oulart team while Johnny Murphy managed the St Martin’s team.

The GAA nursery continues this Thursday at 6.15 for four- to six-year-olds. Training for under-sevens also at the same time both football and hurling.
