Tenant owes over €5,000 in rent

-

THE DUBLIN based owners of a house in Wexford took to the District Court in a bid to have a tenant leave the premises and pay arrears due in rent.

Kevin and Laura Haugh, with an address at Ballinteer in Dublin, took their case before Judge Gerard Haughton in the absence of Lisa Bergin of 94 Cluain Dara, Clonard.

Plaintiff solicitor Catherine O’Connor noted that the Haughs had already been granted a PRTB (private residential tenancies board) determination that they were entitled to possession of the property and payment of overdue rent amounting to thousands of euro.

Ms Bergin did not attend the PRTB hearing either, noted the solicitor, who stated that the arrears now ran to €5,731.

The weekly rent was €150, the court was told. Judge Gerard Haughton granted the plaintiffs a decree against the tenant for this sum, with an order requiring her to leave the house and to pay €900 in legal costs.
