Woman learned how to grow cannabis online

-

A YOUNG woman found growing cannabis at her home in Bridgetown pleaded guilty to possession of the drug when she attended the District Court in Wexford with her mother.

Taylor Byrne (21) of 1 St David’s Well, Bridgetown was prosecuted after gardaí raided her home in September of 2015.

In a bedroom there they discovered four plants, each two feet high, in an improvised ‘grow-house’ and six seedling plants were also seized.

Solicitor Lana Doherty confirmed that her client, a single mother of two, learned her cultivation techniques from googling on the internet.

Judge Kevin Staunton noted that Ms Byrne was just 18 years of age at the time of the offence, which he described as an error of judgement.

He allowed her the benefit of the Probation Act.
