ST PAUL’S AC

Congratulations and well done to our Juvenile Athletes, Gergely, Maeve, Sammy and Milan, who had a busy weekend last weekend. Gergely travelled to Scotland as part of the Irish Team for the SIAB Track and Field Championships, where he competed in the Shot Putt, finishing in a fantastic third place with a fine throw 13.49m. This was a great achievement for Gergley and a great way to finish out his season, adding to that, Ireland finished in second place overall.

Sunday was day 3 of the All-Irelands, which was the last juvenile track and Field event of 2018 and it was also Sammy’s last juvenile competition after eight years, he was competing in the under-19 200m where he ran a strong heat finishing in fourth place in 23.43, and later in the day he ran 23.60 in the final in a very strong field, finishing in sixth place. Milan was competing in the under-17 Hammer in a very competitive field where he was seventh overall. Maeve finished her season off with her first National title, with great win in the under-17 High Jump, jumping 1.60m, adding to her Silver medal from last week in the Long Jump, a great finish to the season considering her injury earlier in the year.

It’s time now for these athletes to enjoy a well-earned rest. Emma Owens will have to wait another week for her rest as she is competing in the National Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium Saturday and Sunday. We wish her the best of luck.
