Hard luck to the under-20s who lost out to Liam Mellos in the county final lat Tuesday in the center of excellence in Ferns.

TIDY TOWNS
Only a couple of weeks now till the results of the Tidy Towns are out, so we all need to be vigilant and make sure is at its best and litter-free.
JOIN THE SILVER CIRCLE
A new fundraising initiative has been launched to raise money towards building a community centre at the Community Field in Garrywilliam. In recent days, members of the community centre Development Committee have begun distributing brochures to homes explaining how the Silver Circle works.
The Silver Circle is a series of 12 monthly draws and one bumper draw confined to holders of the 400 tickets sold. Each month, five prizes of €200 are to be won and the bumper draw will have a total prize pot of €10,000. Joining the Circle costs €240. This can be paid by cheque or standing order instalments.
Members of the committee will be calling to homes in the coming weeks to assist people in signing up. Alternatively, you can contact one of the committee to arrange a purchase. Tickets will be sold on a first come/first served basis. Further information is available on our Facebook page ‘Crossabeg-Ballymurn Community Centre Development Project’ or by email at crossabegballymurncommunity@gmail.com. The first draw is scheduled to take place in November.

Blackwater GAA CLUB NEWS
Well done to Darren Byrne who has been shortlisted at full back on the Bord Gais U21 Hurling team of the year.
The Minor footballers lost out by 9 points RJ Gusserane in the Roinn 1 Quarter Final. The lads conceded 5 goals in the first half and fought back to just 5 in the second but Gusserane finished stronger.
The Junior footballers defeated Starlights in the final round of the championship which sees us safe. Aidan Whelan into his third decade manned the goal while Robert McGuinness scored a spectacular 25 yard goal. Score was 1-11 to 1-06. It means the team has finished 5th which finishes the year but plenty of optimism as a number of young players were introduced during the year.
Bree-Galbally TRACTOR RUN
Bree Vintage Club will hold a Tractor Run in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre this Sunday, September 16, registration from 11.30 a.m. Leaving Bree Grain Yard at 1 p.m. Finger food and live music in Byrne’s of Bree after run. All vehicles need to be insured to participate in the run.
BEST OF BREE FESTIVAL
A Best of Bree Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 22, to September 23. The festival will feature Bree’s Fittest Family competition and Team Dancers and Chancers. There will also be competitions, entertainment and attractions for all the family: Scarecrow Competition, Kids Art Competition, Junior Fittest Family, Local Artisan Food Stalls, local and County Craft Stalls, Bree Hill Walking Trail, Viewing of new IT Hub, Catering Stalls, Barbecue and all the Usual field day activities. Fliers will be delivered to each house in the parish with further details. A ‘Best of Bree Festival 2018’ Facebook page is also in place.
FITNESS CLASSES
‘Smart Fitness’ Keep Fit, Exercise and Kettlebell Circuit Classes return to Galbally Community Centre this Tuesday, September 11, 7 p.m. with a Cardio Blast Class (Tone and Tighten Thursdays at 7 p.m. and ‘FeelGood Friday’ morning’s at 10 a.m.). Cost: only €7.50 per class or €13 for any two. Suitable for all ages, male/female and all classes include a mix of bodyweight, core and kettlebell exercise. All levels of fitness catered for, classes are accessible for total beginners and advanced athletes. Bree Youth Club will recommence on Friday, September 14, Junior Club is from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and senior club will be from 8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry every night is €2. Guests are welcome with registered members.

GAA TABLE QUIZ
Ballyhogue GAA are holding a table quiz on Friday, September 14, in Byrnes of Bree at 9 p.m. Tables of four €40. There will also be a leg waxing of the GAA team of dancers to get them stage ready for the Dancers and Chancers competition. All funds raised will be used to support our team of Chancers for the Best of Bree Festival Dancers and Chancers Competition.

Oulart CONCERT
Oulart Hill Development committee members are working hard to develop and maintain the Walking Trails in the locality and to extend the Unyoke Walk to Blackwater and Oulart Hill to Boolavogue.
Wexford County Council generously provides a proportion of the necessary funding and the remainder must be raised by the committee who have organised a Night of music, song, Stories and Craic in the Riverside Park Hotel on Sunday, September 16, beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is €10 and there will be a valuable Door Prize.
Tickets are on sale from members of the organising committee (myself included) and at the Door on the night. The success of the venture depends on local support and, thankfully, the people of Oulart-The Ballagh have never been found wanting.

GAA/CAMOGIE ACTION
Well done to the senior camogie team on their championship victory over Glynn-Barntown last week in Glynn. In a very competitive match, Oulart-The Ballagh won on a score-line of one goal 11 points to seven points. They now advance to play St Ibar’s Shelmaliers, in the county semi-final, with the date and venue yet to be confirmed.
The under-16 camogie team have qualified for the Shield Final, the under-10 girls play in their final on September 15, in Buffers Alley while the under-12 girls play in their final on September 22, in Piercestown.
Our under-15 hurlers will play Shelmaliers in the Roinn one Co. semi-final on Sunday, September 16, in Bree at 11 a.m. The under-17 hurlers have also qualified for the Co. semi-final and will play Glynn-Barntown, with details to be announced at a later date.
CLUB LOTTO
GAA and camogie clubs all over Ireland contribute greatly to the betterment of community life in towns, cities and rural areas by providing excellent sporting facilities and structures that greatly benefit young and not-so-young. As an amateur and volunteer-led organisation, the GAA depends on the support and generosity of the local community, and Oulart-The Ballagh GAA is no exception.
The club runs a lotto every second week, with tickets costing a mere €2 each or a book of five for €10 and a chance of winning a substantial jackpot (€9,000 at the moment) as well as five lucky-dip winners of €30 per draw. Thank you to everyone who already support the lotto and please encourage your friends to do the same.

The Beginning of Year Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church on September 18, at 10 a.m. Confirmation Day in Oulart will be on Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m. while First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m.

SPLIT-THE-POT
Congratulations to the most recent winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot – Fiona O’Dowd, who won €100.
The next draw will be held on Monday, September 17. Many thanks to all who continue to support this fundraiser for the local primary school.
The Parents’ Association of Scoil Mochua is pleased to report that since it began in June 2016 the weekly split-the-pot has raised €17,181 for the school. The money has been used to provide extra reading resources for the pupils, new computers, picnic tables and benches as well as contributing to the roof repairs and painting of the interior.
