ANNUAL PATRON

Our annual Patron Mass and blessing of the graves took place recently in St Abban’s in lovely sunshine. After a dull start to the day, the skies cleared to give a fine afternoon. There was a very large attendance and what a wonderful display of flowers throughout the entire cemetery. Mass was celebrated in St Abban’s Church by Fr Odhran Furlong, assisted by Fr Moynihan and Fr Jim Furlong.

A sincere thanks to the Cemetery Committee for their traffic management and support and help in making the Patron Day so easy for those who came to remember their deceased family and friends. Thanks to the choirs for the lovely hymns, the readers, to our own Eucharistic ministers and two from Raheen, who helped out, the servers, to Saunders Sound from whom the sound system was hired and which made such a difference to those who remained at family graves during the celebration of Mass. Finally to Cait and Joe for their continued help for all occasions in St Abban’s.

Fr Nolan was remembered in prayer for a speedy recovery to health. A heartfelt thanks from the Cemetery Committee for the generosity of so many people who attended the patron, in donating €3,094 for the continued upkeep of the cemetery. Many thanks.
