FOOTBALL
A 1-15 to 1-09 defeat to Bunclody put paid to the St Fintan’s intermediate football teams involvement in this year’s Amber Springs/Ashdown Park hotels intermediate football championship. The victory of Ballyhogue over Duffry Rovers also played a significant role with the ‘Hogues’ grabbing the fourth quarter final spot. The south county men while playing with a strong wind in the first half found scores hard to come by and when the half time whistle sounded trailed on a scoreline of 0-05 to 0-04. Cathal O’Brien gave them some hope scoring a fine goal on the resumption to momentarily take the lead but I’m afraid it was down hill after that but for two fine saves by Patrick McDonnell the final scoreline would have looked embarissing.
ST FINTAN’S UNDERAGE
The Our Lady’s Island/St Fintan’s under-15 football team received a walk over by St Mary’s Mauldintown in the Gorey Gaurdian Roinn one shield semi-final, while the minor hurling team took on Liam Mellows in the Wexford People Roinn one shield semi-final at Carne on Saturday last. The resultof this game is not available at this time.
