Healthy Town programme targets mental health with seminar
WEXFORD’S HEALTHY Town programme continues in Clayton White’s Hotel on Monday, October 10 when Irish author and medic, Dr Harry Barry hosts a free mental health workshop focusing on emotional resilience.
The workshop starts at 7.30 p.m. Dr Barry has been a medical doctor for almost 40 years and has a long-standing interest in mental health. He has published numerous books on how to effectively manage issues which can affect personal mental wellbeing.
Recent research carried out as part of the Healthy Town programme revealed that nine in ten adults in Wexford Town feel that they take good care of their mental health, though only 36% said that they feel knowledgeable about health and wellbeing. In response to this and following the 2018 Healthy Town theme of ‘Mind’, the workshop will provide people with the tools necessary to build strong emotional resilience. The event is open to people of all ages and everyone in the locality with an interest in health and mental wellbeing is encouraged to come along.
Paul Reid, Managing Director, Pfizer Ireland said: ‘Dr Barry’s workshop is a great addition to this year’s events programme. Through research carried out before the initiative launched, we know that looking after your personal mental health is extremely important. Those who are looking for some useful advice on how to effectively manage their mental health, whether it’s coping with every day issues or simply wanting to introduce balance to an otherwise busy lifestyle, will really benefit from the workshop and Dr Barry’s extensive experience in the area.’
Registration for this workshop is essential as spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. To reserve a place, email: pfizerhealthytown2018@edelman.com.
