Golf classic raffle money is given to ASK
WEXFORD Chamber utilised a networking and fun day at Wexford Golf Club to help ASK, one of the town’s most important community support organisations.
A spokesperson for the chamber said the golf classic event was made all the more enjoyable for those who participated because it was held in ideal weather conditions.
‘We had beautiful weather, it was a fantastic course and we had very enthusiastic golfers which all made for a great day of sport, networking and fun,’ said the spokesperson.
The organisers held a raffle on the day and the proceeds from that, €445, was donated to ASK which is a local voluntary run organisation helping those affected by mental health issues.
The fact ASK benefited from the day added to the satisfaction of those involved.
The golf classic was sponsored by Donohoe SKODA and local businesses also supported the event by sponsoring tee-boxes and prizes.
‘Wexford Chamber would like to thank all involved,’ said the spokesperson.
The competition was closely contested with the list of winners being composed of: (GUI): 1st - Club Choice Ireland with 57.1 points; 2nd - Kirwan & Kirwan Solicitors with 57.9 points, and 3rd - Danone Early Life Nutrition with 58.1 points.
The Non GUI results were composed of: 1st - BNY Mellon with 60.2 points; 2nd - Danone Early Life Nutrition with 60.3 points, and 3rd Halo Tiles and Bathrooms with 63.4 points.
Other prize-winners included: Nearest The Pin - Willie Murphy (Datapac); The Longest Drive - Adam Jordan (AMPM) and Pauline Breen (William Neville & Sons).
Following the fun on the course the participants enjoyed dinner in the Ginger Bistro after which Club Choice Ireland was presented with the AIB Perpetual Trophy - a beautiful crystal vase piece that has been presented since 1997.
Cllr Frank Staples, from ASK, spoke about the organisation’s mental health campaign at the dinner and thanked everyone for their support.
The President of Wexford Chamber, Niall Reck, also spoke at the dinner and having thanked everyone who took part said the annual golf classic is becoming more popular each year.
