COMMUNITY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €14,600. The winning numbers were 16, 27, 32 and 33. There were two matchthree winners who received €100 each. The winners were Mogue Byrne and Martin Cleary. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, October 2, and the jackpot now stands at €14,800.

ST ANNE’S LADIES IN FINAL

St Anne’s Ladies are in the Junior B camogie final on Saturday, October 6, at midday, venue to be confirmed. Please come along and support our girls.

FASTNET ROVERS AFC

Preparatio­ns are well under way for the start of the upcoming soccer season. We welcome all new players who have joined the club and all returning players. HITS FROM THE MUSICALS

Rathangan Variety Group presents for one night only ‘Musical Memories of the Last 20 Years’ in Rathangan Bar on Thursday, October 4, 8 p.m. as a fundraisin­g concert towards their February 2019 Production of ‘9 to 5’.Tickets are €10 and will be available from any committee member. They will also be available on the door on the night. Keep an eye on our Facebook page as further details will follow nearer the time.

YOGA CLASSES

There is a yoga class in Rathangan Hall every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Suitable for beginners and improvers. €10 per class or five classes for €40. Contact Julie at 087 1250720 for details. Please bring a mat.

SUNNY SOUTH EAST STROLLERS

We meet at Rathangan Hall at 7 p.m. on Mondays (except Bank Holidays or if it is raining). Come along and try out for our fourweek programme which continues on Mondays October 8, 15 and 22. We do warm up exercises followed by a 30 to 35 minutes stroll of the walkway (which has a section under lights). A cup of tea or coffee and most importantl­y a chat afterwards. Bring along a torch and wrap up warmly.

SENIOR CITIZENS HOUSING

The annual general meeting of Rathangan senior citizens Housing Associatio­n CLG will take place in the playschool at Rathangan Hall on Friday, October 26, at 8 p.m. Every resident of the parish qualifies as a member and is entitled to attend and vote. All welcome so please come along. Please note venue as presidenti­al election voting booths is in main hall.

PARISH COUNCIL

Rathangan parish council wish to thank everyone who supported and helped to make our music festival to be a great success. A profit of €14’ 000 was raised. Preparatio­ns are well under way for our 2019 festival on Sunday, July 28. We have secured an excellent line up including Derek Ryan and band, Michael English and band, Jimmy Buckley, Cliona Hagan, Lisa Mchugh and the conquerors.

Tickets will be on sale for Christmas, an ideal present for family and friends.

Rosslare Harbour KRH CAST CONCERT

KRH Tops Community Group will host a Cast Concert on Wednesday, October 10, in St Patrick’s Church, Rosslare Harbour at 7.30 p.m. in aid of Community Group and St Aidan’s Cemetery Fund. Cast Members adult and junior will perform with special guests, Fintan Cleary, George Lawlor, Emma Hore, Billy Brennan, Martina Keane, Tony Carty and Jimmy Kelly. ST MARY’S GAA

St Mary’s GAA are running a race night in Culleton’s Kilrane Saturday, October 6, at 9.30 p.m. Entry is free so come a long and support your local club.

Our lotto is €18,500 for October 2. Tickets available throughout the locality. We can set up standing order for you to be in every week.

Our Junior Hurlers had a great win 18 points to 1-11 against Buffers Alley and are in the county semi-finals. The Footballer­s are in the Quarter finals in Intermedia­te Championsh­ip.

Our under-17s will play their Football semi-final In St Patrick’s Park on Wednesday, October 10.

Our under-13s did very well this year and lost in the county semi-final.

We have started 365 in all our schools.

ST PAUL’S AC

Congratula­tions and well done to to Maeve Hayes, who came second in the Leinster Schools Combined Events. Maeve now goes through to the all-Ireland Combined Finals next month.

Congratula­tions and well done to to Gergely Pap on his first place finish and Milan Kovacs with second place in the under-17 Discus at the Wexford County Throws Championsh­ips.

Training continues on Mondays and Wednesdays in Kilrane from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next general meeting will be on Tuesday, October 2. The meeting will take place at the Hotel Rosslare at 03 p.m. A Committee Meeting will take place at 2 p.m.

The visit to Dáil Eireann will take place on Tuesday, October 23. The visit will include lunch, from a set menu, in the private dining room. Anybody coming on the trip who has any special dietary needs should contact Mairead at 053 9133702 as soon as possible. The price for the meal and coach is €25 each for ARA members and €35 each for non-members. The number of places available are very strictly limited. If interested please ring Jim at 053 9133291.

Our members, and those who travelled with us, had a great holiday in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. Thanks to all who supported us and we are glad that you enjoyed yourselves. Thank you Mairead for your hard work in organising this, we are already looking forward to the next one.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Lorcan Crilly and family Barryville Court, Rosslare Harbour on the very sudden passing of his dear sister Sinead from Rathfarnha­m, Co Dublin. Sinead’s funeral Mass was celebrated in St John the Evangelist Church, Ballinteer followed by burial in Bohernabre­ena cemetery. May she rest in peace.

LEGO WORKSHOP

A four-day Bricks4Kid­z Lego Workshop camp runs from from October 30 to November 2 at Rosslare Community Centre.

This is a themed camp designed to teach the principles of Science, Technology, Engineerin­g and Maths (STEM) to five- to 12-year-olds in a fun and entertaini­ng way. Build specially designed models, explore the worlds of engineerin­g, architectu­re and mathematic­s. Pumpkins, zombies and withering skeletons will feature in our themed Hallowe’en camp. St Mary’s GAA and camogie club are running their second race night in Culleton’s Pub Kilrane on October 6 at 9.30 p.m. (Please note date and time change) A good night is guaranteed – come along and have a flutter.

With the arrival of the new season, New 2 U Charity Boutique urgently require donation of good quality autumn/winter clothing, bric-à-brac and small household goods. Any out of hours donations can be delivered to the community centre.

BEFRIENDIN­G GROUP

This is a free service offering companions­hip to older people through weekly visits and telephone calls. Volunteers are trained by ‘Alone’, and are Garda vetted and reference checked. We complement other services such as home help, homecare etc., but do not replace them. Self-referrals and profession­al referrals are welcome.
