CONDOLENCES

Patrick Connolly, who died at New Ross nursing home on September 24 was born in Polehore, Killurin in 1927, and spent most of his life in Corbally, Limerick before moving to Kyle Upper for the last three years and to the nursing home in New Ross last May.

His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Alphonsus Church, Barntown on September 27 and burial took place to the adjoining cemetery. To his wife and family, brothers, sisters, extended family, neighbours and friends we extend our deepest sympathy.

Our sympathies are also extended to the O’Leary family, Farmhill, Crossabeg on the death of Mamie Breen (née O’Leary) Rathimney, Gusserane, who died recently and on the death of Mary Murphy (née Duggan, Blackwater) Tullycanna, Ballymitty which took place on Wednesday, October 3, following a long battle with cancer. Her funeral Mass took place on Saturday last in St Paul’s Church, Ballymitty with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Our sympathy also to her husband and family, relations, neighbours and friends. RIP.

PUBLIC MEETING

There was a good attendance at a special meeting held at Kyle Forge on Thursday, September 27, Organised by Crossabeg resident Darren Kenny, the meeting addressed the concerns of locals about the new layout at Kyle Cross. Many voiced their opinions that a roundabout was the best solution for this busy junction with many also stating that they found it frightening to cross from the Killurin turning to the Crossabeg side and vice-versa. They would also like to see better lightning on the junction and possibly a speed limit. Darren will spearhead a committee for any future lobbying on the issue and wishes to thank each and everyone who attended the meeting and gave their support.
