New cafe bringing famous Cornish pasty to Wexford
A NEWLY-OPENED business called Juke Bakery & Cafe beside Mooney’s pub on Commercial Quay is bringing a tantalising taste of Cornwall to Wexford town.
The new business is run by Julie-Ann White from Cornwall and Kevin Murray from Dublin.
Julie-Ann has been using an old traditional recipe for the famous ‘Cornish Pasty’ and brings with her the knowledge of what pasties are all about.
Kevin offers his own version of ‘Jest in a Vest’ (a sausage roll with a difference) so when the pair met, it was a match made in culinary heaven.
Juke Bakery & Cafe is open every day from from 7am to 5 p.m. offering an array of different savoury pies, cakes and gateaux, allowing people to grab a coffee and pasty on the run or sit in the medieval themed cafe and enjoy a delicious s ‘Cornish Cream Tea’ consisting of scone, jam and Cornish clotted cream. The pasty menu includes the King Arthur (steak and veg), Mordred (chicken curry), the Guinevere (cheese and veg) and the Camelot (breakfast pasty of sausage, bacon, white pudding, mushroom and beans).
Juke serves an early risers takeaway breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. including Jest in a Vest and the Sir Galahad (egg and bacon pie).
The cafe also sells Saffron or Cornish fruit buns and features a King’s Quarter couch where diners are invited to relax and watch the busy world go by on Wexford quays.
Frozen pasties are available to take home uncooked and Julie-Ann and Kevin will give customers baking instructions so they can enjoy the tasty Cornish pies at home.
