FREE HEALTH CHECK

The Irish Heart Foundation is providing free Health Checks in their mobile unit which will be located at Adamstown Community Centre on Thursday, November 1, and Raheen Family Resource Centre on Friday, November 2, from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The Health Check includes blood pressure, cholestero­l and blood sugar. Booking is essential and the checks take half an hour to complete. MASSES FOR HOLY SOULS

The November Masses for Holy Souls will take place as follows. Monday the 19th – Tomgarrow, Misterin, Rathkyle, Adamstown and Coolnagree. Tuesday the 20th – Oldcourt, Brocurra, Doononey, Woodview Drive. Wednesday the 21st – Newtown, The Leap, Knockreigh and Coonogue. Thursday the 22nd – Kellystown, Chapel, Raheenduff, The Barracks. Friday the 23rd – Glenour, Ballyvergi­n, Rathsilla and Fairfields. May they rest in peace.

Each evening we will gather in St Abban’s Oratory at 7.30 p.m. All present will receive a candle, which will be left lighting before the Blessed Sacrament. Please return your envelopes as soon as possible. You are welcome every night or any other night.

CARDS

The Weekly 30 Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 2, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on the night will be Angela Dooley, Elizabeth Doyle and Maria Carty. Cateringn Friday, November 9, will be Catherine Moore, Kathleen O’Connor, Nancy Walsh and Tina Whelan.

ICA NEWS

The bowling tournament takes place in Leisure Max on November 16 If anyone is interested in travelling to Manchester for Christmas Shopping a bus will be organised depending on interest. The trip is for two nights and includes B&B with return coach and boat for €189 p.p.s. Art classes are to commence soon which are also open to non-members. New members are always welcome and the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 14.

CROSS COUNTRY EVENT

Adamstown Athletic Club will be hosting the Leinster Uneven Ages Cross Country in Adamstown on Sunday, November 11. We would appreciate any help on the day so if you can work or contribute e.g. making sandwiches, buns, car parking, track stewards, officials, shop-keepers please contact Marie at 087 6675182. Proceeds will go towards the new outdoor gym at the community centre which will be available for everyone in the community to use.

SYMPATHY

Our sympathy is extended to Mary and Jack Galway, Tomgarrow, Adamstown on the death of Mary’s Mother Anastasia Sinnott of Coolroe, Clonroche. Beloved mother of John, Michael, Catherine and Mary and sister of the late Pat, James Michael and Laurence. Our sympathy also to her many relatives, friends and neighbours. Anastasia’s funeral Mass took place on Monday, October 22, in St Clement’s Church, Cloughbawn with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

JOHN O’BRIEN R.I.P.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of John O’Brien, Oldcourt, Adamstown whose death took place on Monday, October 22. Predecease­d by his brothers Denis, Martin, Andy and sister Nita, John is sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended friends, relatives and neighbours. John’s funeral Mass took place on Thursday, October 25, in St Abban’s Church, Adamstown with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

The website www.bree.ie is now up and running under the auspices of Bree Community Developmen­t Group. The website content is dependent on input from all the groups and organisati­ons in Bree Parish.

Groups and organisati­ons should have received an email about the content for their page and if anything is unclear please reply to the email or contact info@bree.ie If businesses would like to be listed on the site, please email with info on the following: Company Name, Contact Person, Phone Number and Website (if applicable) as well as a brief descriptio­n of the business. Anyone working in the creative/arts field should also contact us and a section on health and Wellbeing will be added shortly.

This website is a work in progress and Bree Community Developmen­t Group would appreciate your input to bring this together. The group is very grateful to Annette Brennan (née Bolger) for her work on this project.

COMMUNITY CENTRE AGM

The AGM of Bree Community Centre will take place on next Monday, November 5, at 7.30 p.m. All organisati­ons that use the centre are asked to be represente­d. This meeting will be followed by the AGM of the Bree Community Developmen­t Group at 8.15 p.m.

COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL AGM

The AGM of Galbally Community Playschool Committee will take place on Tuesday, November 20, at 8 p.m. in Galbally National School. Everyone is very welcome to attend.

BINGO

Bingo takes place every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Jackpot this week is €350 and will continue to rise till it’s won. All are welcome on the night and money raised will be split half and half between Bree Youth Club and Bree Utd.

SPORTS/LEISURE CLUB 30TH

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club would like to invite you to celebrate the 30th anniversar­y of the opening of the hall taking place on December 8 in the Sports and Leisure Club. It promises to be a spectacula­r night with entertainm­ent including music, dancing, and storytelli­ng with instrument­al pieces and ballads. Licensed Bar on night. Free entry. BREE AC

Outdoor Training takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays in the lower GAA field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all athletes over eight years of age. Best wishes to all those taking part in the Leinster Championsh­ips in Adamstown on November 11.

Memorial Service For the Faithful Departed: All are very welcome to attend the annual Clonard Parish Memorial Service in Clonard Church at 7 p.m., on Sunday, November 4, to remember and pray for our Faithful Departed. The service will be accessible on Parish Radio at 92.9 FM.

SERVICE OF REMEMBRANC­E

Wexford General Hospital is holding their service of remembranc­e at Clonard Church, Wexford on Friday, November 16, at 7.30 p.m. – this is an annual event. The service of remembranc­e is particular­ly intended for families and friends of those who died at Wexford General Hospital over the past year. However, the service is also open to anyone who wishes to attend.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

The club sends votes of sympathy to the Beary family of Belvedere Grove on the death of their father Danny, he was always there on the bank to cheer the club on, he will be sadly missed. Oylegate LAUNCH OF PARISH JOURNAL

The launch of the Oylegate-Glenbrien Parish Journal will take place on Saturday, November 17, at 8.30 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. Details to follow later.

CRAFT FAIR 2018

The annual Craft Fair will be held in Oylegate Community Centre on Sunday, November 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tables €20 each. Refreshmen­ts available. Exhibitors from Oylegate-Glenbrien Parish will be given first preference.

Parish Exhibition­s must be booked by Tuesday, November 6, as after that all remaining tables will be open to all. A certain number of tables will be assigned for Student’s Mini companies and again first preference will be given to students from Oylegate-Glenbrien, who should book before November 6 or else places will be given to others.
