Sig­gin­stown Cas­tle ren­o­va­tions

Wex­ford County Coun­cil has granted plan­ning per­mis­sion to Gor­don and Liz Jones for an ex­ten­sion and ren­o­va­tion works at the 450-year old Sig­gin­stown Cas­tle in Tacumshane.

The lo­cal au­thor­ity has granted ap­proval to the cou­ple for im­prove­ment works on the prop­erty which is a recorded ar­chae­o­log­i­cal mon­u­ment.

The ap­proved re­fur­bish­ments in­clude a new en­trance and ac­cess road, sewage treat­ment sys­tem, a new roof and the re­fur­bish­ment of a tower house, a new roof and re­fur­bish­ment of the main house and an ex­ten­sion to the main house which will in­cor­po­rate the ex­ist­ing walls of an ad­join­ing agri­cul­tural build­ing.

Plan­ning per­mis­sion was granted sub­ject to con­di­tions.
