Plan for 86 new houses in Coolcotts
A PLANNING application has been submitted for an 86-dwelling estate on Coolcotts Lane.
CFO Construction Limited has already been granted permission for a 71-dwelling estate along that road and the latest application is for a site adjoining that development.
The new application seeks to construct three two-storey four-bed detached houses, 20 two-storey four-bed semi-detached units, 12 two-storey three-bed semi-detached units, 43 two-storey three-bed ter- raced units, and eight two-storey two-bed terraced units, as well as all associated works, hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatments, and connection to public services.
In their application, the agent for CFO Construction, which is based in Dublin, explained that the site is bordered on the north by Wexford Racecourse, and to the west by existing housing schemes.
Improvements to Coolcotts Lane are accounted for in the application and 15 houses are due to be transferred to Wexford County Council for the purpose of social and affordable housing on completion.
It was added, in the applicant’s letter, that a crèche facility for the area was not viable.
It was suggested instead that a donation could be made to a state-funded childcare provider, one of which had been identified, as it was felt that this would go much further in terms of childcare for the area than the building of a new facility that would not be viable.
