Free IT course for farm­ers

FARM­ERS from across County Wex­ford are be­ing en­cour­aged to brush up on their com­puter lit­er­acy with a new, free course be­ing of­fered by the Farm Fam­ily Com­mit­tee along with Ir­ish Ru­ral Link.

Com­puter lit­er­acy is be­com­ing ever more im­por­tant in farm­ing and Chair­per­son of the Farm Fam­ily Com­mit­tee, Alice Doyle, says that it’s some­thing that’s set to in­crease.

‘IT skills and ba­sic dig­i­tal skills are go­ing to be­come very im­por­tant in the near fu­ture,’ she said.

‘Ev­ery­thing is mov­ing on­line and soon the Depart­ment will be look­ing for ev­ery­thing to be sub­mit­ted on­line.’

This new course will run over five weeks in the li­braries of the four main towns in the county.

Each class will last two hours and peo­ple are en­cour­aged to bring other peo­ple from the house­hold along to help.
