Hard luck to our minor camogie team defeated by Oulart-The Ballagh in a play off for a semi-final spot in the Premier championsh­ip last Monday morning. The girls have another bite at the cherry when they complete the three way play off away v Bunclody on Saturday, November 10,

Well done to our Rising Stars under-15 hurlers who won their final on Sunday morning 3-13 to 3-6 v Harriers.

Best of luck to our under-15 footballer­s who play Naomh Eanna Gorey in the premier final on Sunday, November 4, in St Patrick’s Park.

SENIOR GAA

Well done to our Junior A hurlers who won the replay of their County Final defeating Kilmore 1-9 to 1-8 in Bellefield on Sunday. The sides were level at half time at 1-2 apiece and the game continued in the same style with only a point separating the two well matched teams at the final whistle. Captain JJ Doyle received the cup from clubman and Co Coaching Officer Bobby Goff. Our scores came from JJ Doyle 0-4,

Matt Doyle 1-1 (0-1 free), Aaron Kehoe 0-3 (frees), Matthew Joyce, 0-1. Well done to the boys and their management who enjoyed the celebratio­ns in the clubhouse (and beyond) that evening.

BARNTOWN HERITAGE GROUP

Barntown Heritage Group have recently formed as a group which consists of a number of local volunteers. We are all about promoting and developing awareness of the huge depth of history within Barntown from famous events, historical structures and local people.

To achieve this we hope to work on a number of projects each year. At the moment we are working on resurrecti­ng the Three Rocks Trail. This trail takes you through a historical journey of the famous three Rocks 1798 battle which was a huge part of the 1798 rebellion.

We will be adding informatio­n about our group’s plans and progress on the Barntown.ie website. We are always looking for anyone interested in getting involved and would be delighted to hear from you. Please send an email to barntown.ie@gmail.com or for more info contact Anne at 089 4316353.

Pop along to Glynn Hall on Wednesday nights where whist continues from 8 p.m.

SOCIAL DANCING

Learn to jive, waltz, Quickstep and many more. Social dancing classes have resumed in Glynn Hall on Monday, September 17, at 8 p.m. Beginners and advanced – all welcome.

Also classes commenced on Tuesday, September 18, and will take place every Tuesday evening in the Horse and Hound Inn, Ballinbool­a at 8 p.m.
