ALL BLACKS AFC

The under-11 girls travelled to Kiltealy in the recant past for their division three game against Ballindaggin. Playing uphill and against a bitter wind, our girls found themselves a goal down after just a few minutes. Our girls quickly found their feet and with ‘keeper Holly.

May O’Sullivan, and defenders Ava Newport, Leah Murphy and Ava Wallace protecting our goal, we held out till half time.

The second half began at a faster pace and we came close in the opening few minutes when Ava Wallace broke through the Ballindaggin defence and one on one with the keeper, Ava forced a fantastic save from the keeper, a save that gained applause from both sidelines. Not to be deterred Ava pushed forward again and scored our first goal. With good persistence by Eva Smith, Grace Day, Ruby Lambert and Aoibhin Kelly, Jolie Rankin was able to score All Blacks second goal with a right footed shot to the top of the net.

Tara Devereux then put a left footed pass to Ava Wallace, who directed it cross field to the incoming Jolie Rankin, who hit it to the bottom corner of the net. With Nia Lambert creating play with good passing up front, the girls continued to apply pressure right to the end and the game finished 3-1 to All Blacks.

It was a good weekend for the Men’s teams when the A team had a comfortable 11-1 win against Corach and our B Team picked up their first win of the season coming from three to one down to beat Wexford Bohs 3rds 4-3. Goals from Shaun Kelly, Shane Mythen, a great header by Declan Lee and a Paddy O’Sullivan corner that was goalward bound but took a deflection to go in gave the lads the three points. Well done to all the lads both young and old (er).
