Ride-out raises funds for two local causes

-

ONE of the county’s most active and successful horse riding organisations held a very successful ride-out and the money raised from it was presented to two very worthy organisations.

The Killinick Harriers Hunt Club (KHHC) members showcased their charitable nature when they organised a fun ride-out around an eight-mile circuit starting and finishing in Ballycogley.

The event attracted 147 riders, much to the delight of the organisers, who rightly regarded it as a great success.

It was the third year the fundraising event took place and this time the two chosen recipients were Mayglass National School and the mental health support organisation, Ask.

They each received cheques for €1,500 at a presentation ceremony in the school.

A spokesperson for KHHC said the group of riders was composed of participants of all age groups.

‘It was an eight-mile circuit with multiple jumps including logs and barrels,’ she said.

‘There were all kinds of obstacles but they were all optional for the riders,’ she added.

The club thanked all of the landowners who facilitated the event with the use of their property and the Ballycogley Hall committee for the use of their facility.

The Order of Malta was also complimented for providing medical cover at the ride-out.

Mayglass National School and Ask also expressed gratitude to the club for its generous donation.
