LOCAL PLACE NAME PROJECT

Some 22nd Wexford Cub Scouts have been working on a community project on local place names, called Meitheal Logainm. It’s an online project inviting people to enter local names of fields, lanes, crossroads etc. into a national database, as an opportunity to preserve and share the minor placenames in their native areas.

We are inviting the community to come along any time between 4.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. next Wednesday, November 21, at the Bygone Days house in Lower Oulart, where they can share their local knowledge of place names with us. We are looking for anything that would not be found on a normal map eg. the name that a field or lane may have been called locally. We lookforward to seeing you on Wednesday and anyone looking for more information can contact Trisha Wiltshire at 086 3080403 or check out Meitheal.logainm.ie.
