GLYNN HALL AGM

The committee of Glynn Parish Hall will hold their AGM (in the hall), on Tuesday, November 27, at 8 p.m.

GLYNN NATIONAL SCHOOL

Rackard League: Congratula­tions to our boys who defeated Gorey in a very competitiv­e Rackard League Final. Many thanks to their coaches and also to the parents and school friends who supported the boys on the night.

Mini 7s: Our girls mini sevens team have qualified for the final. Details will be announced as soon as we know.

Split-the-pot: The winner of this week’s split-the-pot is Vin Whelan, who won €254. The next split-the-pot draw will be on Monday, November 26, at 8 p.m. in the school followed by a meeting of the fundraisin­g committee. Thank you to everybody who supports the split-the-pot.

Bag Packing: We will be bag packing in Dunnes Stores on Thursday November 22, Friday, November 23, and Saturday, November 24. Please support as all funds will go towards our fundraisin­g efforts to build a PE hall in the school.

Sing out Loud: Fifth and sixth class participat­ed in Sing out Loud. It was an uplifting performanc­e and all the children really enjoyed the experience.

FAI: Third and fourth classes participat­ed in the FAI Futsal blitz. A wonderful day was had by all.

CAMOGIE

Congratula­tions to our minor camogie team who defeated Bunclody in their Play-off last Saturday in Bunclody to secure a premier semi-final spot for Saturday, November 24, The camogie club AGM was held last Sunday. Thanks to everyone who attended and to all who gave their time in anyway during the outgoing season. A special thanks to our sponsors Declan and Mary for their continued support and to outgoing chairwoman Róisín Doyle for her dedication and work over the last two years. We thank the outgoing officers and committee and welcome the new ones wishing incoming chairwoman Georgina Roche the very best in her new role. We look forward to another successful year on and off the pitch.

COISTE

Well done to our under-14 boys’ hurling team who triumphed last Sunday morning v Naomh Eanna Gorey up in Gorey in the Martin Storey league. Well done, all.

RACKARD LEAGUE SUCCESS

Congratula­tions to Glynn NS boys who won the Rackard League B Football final last Monday night in great style in St Patrick’s Park. The boys put in a wonderful performanc­e and great credit goes to all involved in their preparatio­n. Joint captains Fionn and Tom accepted the cup on behalf of their delighted teammates. Glynn NS 7-3 – St Joseph’s Gorey 2-6.

SENIOR GAA

Some of our championsh­ip winning Junior A hurlers popped into Glynn NS with the cup last Friday. Thanks to manager Paul and players Paschal, Cormac and PJ for representi­ng the club and a big thank you to the children and staff for the warm Green and Blue welcome received.

GAA LOTTO

FINAL LOTTO OF 2018. Numbers drawn were 21, 22, 29 and 31. There was no jackpot winner. One match-three winner – Deirdre Kearns. Jackpot now €5,800 Next draw will be in Martys on November 28 and this will be the first draw of the Next 2018/19 lotto.

CLUB LOTTO 2018/19 – The first draw for the club lotto 18/19 takes place on November 28. This fundraiser is vital for the day to day running of the club and is separate from the developmen­t fundraiser. Please begin/renew your lotto membership (€150 for yr or pay by instalment­s/standing order) by contacting Paul Laffan at 086 6056091or any member of the club committee asap. Payments can also be made in the clubhouse Monday to Friday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

SPLIT THE POT BARNTOWN

The latest split-the-pot winner in aid of Barntown Parish, is Bernard Hillis. It’s the second time Bernard has had his name pulled from the hat, this time taking €170. Congratula­tions to you Bernard. The winning ticket was sold in Wexpartz. Envelopes available in Barntown Church, parish office, C & D Providers, O’Brien’s Londis, Mary Jo’s, Saucy Butcher, Clonard Laundry, Joyces Expert, Wexpartz and Barntown Community Centre. CALENDARS

2019 Calendars are on sale now for in the parish office and also in the church. There are some lovely pictures of the church inside and also the grounds outside. Great value at €5 each or three for €10.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual Christmas St Vincent de Paul Appeal is due to take place in Glynn and Barntown Churches, on the weekend of December 1 and two. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz takes place at Wexford Golf Club on Saturday, November 24, at 8.30 p.m. Come along, with or without a team, enjoy a fun evening. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d. We look forward to seeing you on the night. Proceeds in aid of Ferns Youth Ministry.

BADMINTON

BINGO

Taghmon Action Group (TAG) presents bingo, every Tuesday night in the TAG premises. Start time: 8 p.m. – doors open at 7.30 p.m. Also split-the-pot on the night. Tea and coffee available.

BARNTOWN HERITAGE GROUP

Barntown Heritage Group have recently formed as a group which consists of a number of local volunteers. We are all about promoting and developing awareness of the huge depth of history within Barntown from famous events, historical structures and local people.

To achieve this we hope to work on a number of projects each year. At the moment we are working on resurrecti­ng the Three Rocks Trail. This trail takes you through a historical journey of the famous three Rocks 1798 battle which was a huge part of the 1798 rebellion.
