SILVER CIRCLE

The first draw in the Silver Circle fundraiser took place in Foley’s Pub in Crossabeg on Friday night last. Under the watchful eyes of members of the community centre project committee, the Silver Circle numbers of the first five lucky winners were drawn. Five prizes of €200 will be distribute­d this week. Congratula­tions to all. The December draw will take place on December 21 in the Anvil in Ballymurn.

ATHLETICS

St Killian’s senior member Brian Shaughness­y braved the challengin­g conditions on Sunday week last in Adamstown and was the club’s sole representa­tive in the Leinster Senior Cross Country championsh­ips. Brian had a great race and showed real strength to finish in 41st place in a time of 39 minutes 51 seconds for the 10K course.

Emma McCarthy and Chloe Reck competed at the same venue in the Leinster Cross Country juvenile championsh­ips with both competing in the under-11 category. Chloe found the going tough but gave it her all, while Emma placed fifth and was the first girl home for the Wexford team which also claimed the gold medals.

The team now qualify for the national finals to be held in December. Huge congratula­tions to Emma on her fantastic run, making her the first juvenile member of the club to win a Leinster cross country medal.

The annual general meeting of St Killian’s Athletic Club will take place on Wednesday, December 5.

OPEN MEETING

Crossabeg Church Finance committee will hold an open meeting in Kyle Forge at 8.15 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, November 20, The current financial situation will be presented. Topics of discussion will include ways to secure a sustainabl­e financial basis for the continued maintenanc­e and upkeep of the church building. The committee will always need people to participat­e in the community. If anyone wants to become a member/ helper of the Finance committee, please contact Fr Finn.
