Ballymore-Mayglass DRAMA TECHNICAL SKILLS

Are you interested in learning all aspects of Lighting, Sound, Set Building or Backstage skills in amateur drama?

Ballycogle­y Players are busy rehearsing comedy play ‘Same Old Moon’ which will be performed at the end of March-April, and are looking for help in all technical areas. PILATES

There’s a six-week pilates course starting in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Wednesday, February 6, at 10 a.m., cost €20 due to Grant funding. There are a small number of places still available. For details contact Mary at 085 7768638.

SEWING MACHINE REPAIRS

A sewing machine engineer will be at the social centre on Monday, February 4. He will service and repair machines in the centre on the day. the cost is €30 per machine for a service if parts are needed that will be extra. If interested please contact Angela at 087 2840272.

POST OFFICE CLOSURE

It is with deep regret that Andy and Bernie Foley announce the closure of Ballycogle­y post office on Thursday, January 31. Shop and Filling Station will close on Saturday, February 2. Andy and Bernie wish to thank all their customers for their loyal support and friendship over the years.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP 2019.

St Fintan’s club membership is now open for 2019. Non-playing membership is €30 which allows you full access to all club facilities and club texts etc. The club is presently working on linking some retail loyalty rewards to our club membership and hope to introduce these over the coming weeks. CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMEN­T

It was great to see the developmen­t work on the St Fintan’s clubhouse in Ballymore and when finished will bring the building up to date and on a par with those elsewhere. We apologise for any inconvienc­e caused during the period of this work and we thank you for your co-operation and patience.

ANNIVERSAR­Y DINNER

The St Fintan’s Ladies GFC will hold an anniversar­y dinner in the Coast Hotel Rosslare on March 8TH at 7.30 p.m. Tickets costing €35 are available from committee members, Wrecking ball will provide the music plus DJ and door prize. A night not to be missed.

KILLINICK ICA

The local guild held its most recent meeting on January 7 with president Til Kennedy and seventeen members in attendance. On opening the meeting Til called for a minutes silence for the late Betty McHugh a founder member of the Killinick guild. Hostesses on the night were Mary Crotty and Marie McNeigh while Til Kennedy and Joan Furlong will be the hostesses for the February meeting. The competitio­n winners were first Mary Sinnott second Teresa Pettit and third Breda Wright. The competitio­n for the next meeting is for the prettiest cup and saucer.

ALL BLACKS AFC

Split-the-pot draw result January 7 – 21st prizes as follows. January 2019 winner Kyle Rankin prize €333. January 14 winner Tracey Konarski prize €250. winner on January 21 goes to Maura Furlong prize €235. Next draw is on in the Coopers Inn, Killinick on January 28. Your support is greatly appreciate­d. All proceeds go towards the All Blacks AFC 2020 developmen­t fund.

Both men’s teams were in action recently. The A team had a 2-1 win away to Corach Ramblers with goals from Adam Devereux and John Codd. The B team were in cup action and with a depleted squad of only 10 players put in a heroic effort but just fell short 3-2 against Cloughbawn B Mark Sinnott with both goals from the penalty spot. Declan Lee with a superb performanc­e in goal on the day. Well done to all 10 lads.

Our women’s team were also in cup action against Shelbourne and went out 2-0 after extra time after the game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes. Unlucky ladies and with some new players joining its up from here for sure for this very young team many of whom are under-14 and under-16 players. Well done to you all.

Bannow-Ballymitty YOGA

Sorcha teaches a soft, gentle series of movements that can be practiced on a yoga mat or by sitting on a chair. you can even pay weekly so no damage to your pocket at this expensive time of year. GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto numbers were 3, 5, 9 and 17. We had two match-three winners congratula­tions to Bridie Martin Tullycanna and Myra Bennett Sheastown. Next jackpot will be €10,400.

The camogie AGM took place on Sunday last and the following were elected president Monica Ferguson, chairman Gary Sinnott, secretary Siobhán Murphy, treasurer Dorothy Rossiter and PRO Monique Foley. Well done to all involved for the upcoming season.

We also need YOU to assist the clients in the Daycare Centre to ensure they are enjoying their day out, as well as volunteers with a minibus license (D1) to collect the clients in the morning and drop them home in the afternoon in one of our buses. 21 DAY WALKING CHALLENGE

For health benefits adults need to be active at a moderate level for at least 30 minutes a day on five days of the week. With that in mind, we would like to invite you to join our residents for a walk in the Bannow-Ballymitty GAA ground at 9 a.m. every morning. You can walk at your own pace, or you can walk on your own and record how long you walk each day for three weeks.

Challenge yourself to increase your walking time each week. Let’s see how many miles we can walk collective­ly in 21 days. We have record cards which also contain some useful advice on how to get started. You can get one by calling to reception at Grantstown Daycare Centre.
