Our Lady’s Island STORY NIGHT

Storytelli­ng Night in Tacumshane Old School, this Friday, February 1, at 8.30 p.m. Come along, sit back and enjoy the talent, music, song and storytelli­ng. Tea, coffee and cakes at interval. A great night’s entertainm­ent promised.

Sadly our post office closed on Friday last and as a small gesture of thanks to Áine Scallan for her many years of service to this community, we will have a little ‘get together’ in the Community Hall on Sunday, February 3, after Mass. All are welcome to come along for cuppa, chat etc. Hope to see you all there.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to Michelle Codd on winning €110 in last week’s split-the-pot draw. Envelopes are available in O’Doherty’s and will now also be availabe in the Men’s Shed before Mass on Sunday mornings. Draw will now take place in Parochial House. Our Lady’s Island GAA Club weekly bingo continues each Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Butler’s with a chance to scoop our jackpot which now stands at €650.

ST PAUL’S AC

Congratula­tions and well done to our two under-10 Teams, who competed in the County Juvenile Cross Country Relays in Lingstown last Sunday. Our girls’ team finished in third place consisting of Tessa King, Hannah Rose Roche, Rosanna King and Catherine O’Leary. The boys’ team were just outside the medals finishing in fourth place David Byrne, Adam Meyler, Marco Vulcevic and Mattie Sumec. Congratula­tions also to Ger Maloney, who picked up silver in the O’55’s individual­s.

Best of luck to Sammy Delaney, who is competing in the National Junior Indoor Championsh­ips in Athlone on Sunday.

Rosslare Harbour ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next general meeting will be on Tuesday, February 5. The meeting will take place at the Rosslare Railway Social Club at 3 p.m. A Committee Meeting will take place at 2 p.m.

Mairead invites all members to attend the next meeting to discuss the way ahead for 2019 and to consider activities that the group can undertake this year. Anybody, who might be interested in joining the Active Retirement Group is also invited to come along and to contribute ideas for activities.

Members are reminded that the annual subscripti­on, €20, is now due and should be paid at the next meeting.

Rosslare Strand ROSSLARE YOUTH CLUB

We are seeking help from a tech savvy volunteer to help set up some IT/Music equipment. New members always welcome. Join us for weekly activities, hang-out, regular outings and great fun with your friends. Youth Club meets every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rosslare Community Centre.

TIDY TOWNS

Please help us in keeping the village clear of litter by picking the area outside your home/business. We will have the first formal beach clean of the Year in early February; date and times will be published later.

Tidy Towns is part of a nationwide group of volunteers, who enjoy keeping their Villages and Towns looking their best. We welcome New Members; Please feel free to join. Contact Margaret at 086 1257487.

This is a free service offering companions­hip to older people through weekly visits and telephone calls.

Volunteers are trained by ‘Alone’, and are Garda vetted and reference checked. We complement other services such as home help, homecare etc., but do not replace them. Self-referrals and profession­al referrals are welcome.
