Ballymore-Mayglass THE KILLINICK PROJECT
Wexford County Council Environmental Department has awarded the Killinick Project new Trees for our village. Applied for in October 2018 as part of an overall plan to enhance the village, the six trees are evergreen and include three holly trees to be planted in pots in the village area and we hope to get sponsorship for the pots. The Trees will be planted in association with a planned clean-up project in March-April 2019.
We are delighted to have received the trees, working closely with Cliona Connolly in Wexford County Council, who is also assisting us with clean-up utensils and a plan on how to maintain and improve our natural environment so that all the community can enjoy it.
ART CLASS
Are you interested in learning/ improving your Watercolor painting skills? Classes on in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Tuesdays 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., run in six-week modules. The tutor is well known local artist Maria Murphy and the class has been ongoing for the past three years. For details contact Maria at 086 3848364.
KINDLING
Are you winter Ready? Thanks to a donation of timber from Karen and Mick Doyle Kilmore Scouts are selling kindling at Tomhaggard Social Centre €2 per bag. Available Mon 10-1, Wed 7-8.30 Sat 10-11.30 or when centre is open. Proceeds in aid of Scout funds.
PILATES
There’s a six-week pilates course starting in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Wednesday, February 6, at 10 a.m. Cost €20 for the course due to Grant aid. There are a few places available. To book a place or get details contact Mary at 085 7768638.

Ballycogley Hall Development Committee will hold a table quiz in the Halfway House on Thursday, February 7, at 8 p.m. Time to dust off the brain cells after the Christmas break. Please come along and support us. It’s always a good laugh. See you there.
ANNIVERSARY DINNER
The St Fintan’s Ladies GFC will hold an anniversary dinner in the Coast Hotel Rosslare on March 8TH at 7.30 p.m. Tickets costing €35 are available from committee members, Wrecking ball will provide the music plus DJ and door prize. A night not to be missed.
NATIONAL CLUB DRAW

CLUB MEMBERSHIP
St Fintan’s club membership is now open for 2019. Non-playing membership is €30 which allows you full access to all club facilities and club texts etc. The club is presently working on linking some retail loyalty rewards to our club membership and hope to introduce these over the coming weeks. ALL BLACKS AFC

Your support is greatly appreciated. All proceeds go towards the All Blacks AFC 2020 development fund. We would love to hear from any ladies interested in playing with our ladies’ team. We also would love to welcome any new players interested in playing with our under-14 boys’ team. Both the ladies and under-14 boys train on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. so feel free to come down to the All Blacks on Tuesdays if interested.
The under-14 boys’ team played host to Ferns in blustery conditions. This was probably the lads (and girls) best performance of the season and they were un- lucky not to take all three points in a 2-2 draw. Each and every one of the squad battled hard and never gave up. Eoin Kehoe scored both goals for the All Blacks. Big thanks to Zoe, Cora and Katelyn for playing with the boys. All three girls were excellent as were each and every one of the chaps. Well done to all.
FAMILY FUN WALK
A big ‘thank you’ to all those that supported the first St Fintan’s fundraising family walk/ run of 2019. In ideal conditions the event took place at the club grounds in Ballymore and those supporting were treated to a ‘cuppa’in the scout hall afterwards. The money raised will go towards the current clubs developments.
TIT BITS
Congratulations to Jamie Codd on riding two winners at the recent point to point meeting in Downpatrick, Jamie was returning after an enforced absence due to injury. The Ballycogley Players drama group received a grant of €18,308.90 for arts and cultural projects and developments from Wexford Local Development. Killinick lady Mary Forde won the runners-up prize in the Wexford peoples paper quiz of the year.
BEREAVEMENTS
The local area was deep in shock and sadness during the recent past with the sudden passing of two young and respected gentlemen. Deepest sympathy is extended to the Carr family Tenacre on the death of Kevin a very talented, popular and respected man.
To the Goff family Kilrane on the death of Barry in England. In his youth Barry was involved on the GAA scene with St Mary’s Rosslare and was also a talented actor winning individual awards on the circuit with the Ballycogley players. May they rest in peace.
CLOSURES
Another focal point of the parish disappeared during the past week, shop and filling station in Ballycogley a business run by Bernie and Andy Foley. The nearest post offices are in Killinick and Bridgetown and should you need to post a letter you may travel to one or the other of these. The closer of the post office was forced under a reconstructuring scheme. The loss of these will be sorely missed by those of us unable to speak to a machine as Bernie was always on hand to advise and help with the filling of forms etc which offset that problem. Bernie and Andy you will be sorely missed and we wish you and your family good health and happiness in your retirement.
DRAMA TECHNICAL SKILLS
Are you interested in learning all aspects of Lighting, Sound, Set Building or Backstage skills in amateur drama? Ballycogley Players are busy rehearsing Comedy Play Same Old Moon which will be performed at the end of March – April. They are looking for help in all technical areas.
