New bus route to the Heritage Park
Wexford Bus is expanding its service around Wexford town with the announcement of a new hourly service serving Carcur, Crossabeg and Castlebridge.
The new route which the company is calling the Bridge Loop will start at the stop beside Sam McCauleys in Redmond Square and will travel through Spawell Road to Carcur, Newtown Road, the Irish National Heritage Park, Kyle Cross, Crossabeg, Castlebridge and back to Wexford town via Ardcavan.
The first service of the day will depart from Castlebridge at 8.10 a.m., bringing passengers to Redmond Square and at this time only, to the towns secondary schools including Selskar College, St Peter’s, CBS, the Presentation and Loreto for 8.30 a.m. and then onwards to Clonard Village.
After this, the service will operate on an hourly basis departing from Redmond Square at 8.50 a.m. and Castlebridge at 9.10 a.m. ‘We are very pleased to launch the New Bridge Loop. The number of residents in these areas has grown significantly over the past number of years so the new service is timely’, said Wexford Bus Managing Director Brendan Crowley.
‘The people of Castlebridge have been asking for a more regular service and we are delighted to be able to facilitate them. In developing the route we looked at local amenities that would benefit from a bus service and we are delighted to be able to serve the Irish National Heritage Park and Eden Vale. We have partnered with The Irish National Heritage Park to offer a combined bus and park ticket for visitors or locals planning a visit’, said Mr. Crowley.
General Manager Maura Bell said the Irish National Heritage Park is delighted to collaborate with Wexford Bus on the new service, which enhances the accessibility of the tourist attraction. From Monday to Thursday the last Bridge Loop service Bridge Loop will leave Redmond Square at 17.50 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, it will operate later to accommodate people wishing to stay or travel into town for the evening. On these evenings the last service to and from Crossabeg and Castlebridge will depart Redmond Square at 20.50 p.m.
