TAG BINGO

We have bingo every Tuesday night in the TAG (Taghmon Action Group) Centre, Taghmon. All the funds raised go to the up keep of the centre and community based projects.

ATHLETICS NEWS

17 athletes took part in the Ferrybank open sports day, of which eight won medals. In under-eight Leah was third in 60m and third in 200m; in under-14 Ben O’Toole was first in 100m; in under-16 Chloe O’Toole was third in 100m; in Juniors Hannah was third in 100m. In Masters Angela Wall was first and Claire O’Morchoe was second in the mile race; Angela Wall was third in the 100m.

Also recently Bronagh O’Hanlon claimed fifth place in the all-Ireland spring throws 4kg hammer throw.

Well done to all our athletes from Taghmon AC.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to our three quiz teams who took part in the county quiz final last Wednesday. All three scored very well but weren’t in the medal positions, the standard was very high this year.

Good luck to our swimmers in their finals in Enniscorth­y. Local athletics is Wednesday, May 1, in the lower pitch in Taghmon, register at 5.30. €2 per child to enter. This money is to go towards the cost of the medals. First race will be under-six fun run at 6 p.m.

TAGHMON ICA

Taghmon ICA will hold its next meeting, which will be the AGM, on April 17 at 7.30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Breda Banville, Developmen­t Officer, Wexford ICA Federation. Competitio­n is nicest decorated boiled hen egg.

ICA HAS GOT TALENT

The grand final of ‘ICA Has Got Talent’ will be held in Camross Hall on Wednesday, April 24, at 8 p.m. A great night of talent is guaranteed with members from across the county competitin­g in eight different categories, solo singing, group singing, recitation, novelty act, group instrument­al music, solo instrument­al music, individual dance and group dance. Adm €5 for all competitor­s and supporters including the tea.

CAMROSS ICA

A few dates for your diary: April 24 ICA Got Talent in Camross Hall. April 29 – Federation Meeting in Camross Hall. June 6 – Special Occasion, theme: ‘ICA on Tour’. June 24 – Federation Meeting in Duncannon.

Our next meeting will be at 8 p.m. on Monday, May 6, in Camross Hall. The competitio­n will be the ‘prettiest table cloth – any material, any shape, any size’.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

Cast, directors and stage crew are making finishing touches to our three One Act Comedies after weeks of rehearsals. CAROREIGH SCHOOL NEWS

GRANDPAREN­TS DAY – Grandparen­ts Day took place in St Gravan’s NS, Caroreigh on Thursday, April 4, Proceeding­s began with Mass in the church. Entertainm­ent was then provided for all grandparen­ts by all class groups in the hall. The grandparen­ts then visited the pupils in their classrooms and the day was rounded off when everyone was provided with refreshmen­ts by the parents’ council. A very large crowd was in attendance and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

CHRISTIAN MEDIA TRUST – Congratula­tions to pupils, Grainne Kelly, Brian Mernagh and Orla Kelly, who all won first prize in their category in the recent poetry, art and short story competitio­n organised by Christian Media Trust. All three receive their prizes and their winnings entries were recorded for broadcast on South East Radio at a later date.

INTERNET SAFETY TALK – The children, parents and staff of the school all attended Internet Safety talks provided by Zeeko this week, these were interestin­g and informativ­e for all.

HOLIDAYS – happy Easter to all the staff and pupils of the school, be safe and see you all on April 29 at 9 a.m.

‘SONGS FOR HOPE’

Drop into Stafford’s pub in Tullycanna on Sunday, May 5, any time after 4 p.m. for some great live music, from folk to rock, jazz to country. All in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre.

We had a great turnout last year and raise over €2,000 with your help. Your support again this year will be greatly appreciate­d. Free admission. There will be a raffle on the day.
