Further success for O’Neill’s Dry Cure Bacon
O’NEILL’S Dry Cure Bacon have followed up their win at the Blas na hÉireann Awards with another prestigious victory at the Irish Quality Food Awards.
Having previously had their Dry Cured Back Rashers named the country’s best the Enniscorthy based company repeated the feat in front of a packed house at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin as those same rashers were named number one in the Bacon Category.
And, in a further boost, O’Neill’s were named Small Producer of the Year, beating off stiff competition from a number of businesses throughout the country.
As a result of that win O’Neill’s will now work directly with the Dunnes Stores’ Simply Better Development and Buying Team ahead of the launch of a line for the Simply Better Range at Dunnes Stores.
Commenting on their wins, Pat O’Neill said ‘It’s a great honour to win these two awards, it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team here at O’Neills. Both of these awards coupled with our win at Blas na hEireann are recognition that our bacon is quickly becoming one of Ireland’s best loved brands.’
Awards were made in over 50 categories and products were judged, earlier this year, by a panel of over 50 food experts from across Ireland and the UK over a three-week period at the University of Limerick.
And there was further success for the county as Wexford
Home Preserves took home awards for both its No Added Sugar Blackcurrant Jam and the Simply Better Orange and Honey Ham Glaze it produces for Dunnes Stores.
The New Ross-based producers also had their Three Fruit Marmalade and their Wexford Blackcurrant Jam highly commended by the judges.
Reacting to their success,
Laura Sinnott said, ‘The Irish Quality Food Awards are one of the most recognised and respected food awards in Ireland. It’s an amazing celebration of Irish Food and we are so proud to have won these two prestigious awards.
‘It is great for our business and for the people who work with us to receive recognition like this.’
