BALLYCOGLE­Y PLAYERS

Some of our members were busy ‘strutting their stuff’ on the catwalk last Tuesday night in the Riverbank House Hotel at a fashion show in aid of Tomhaggard Social Centre and Tomhaggard Women’s Shed. Well done to Pauline, Grainne, Mary, Trish and Colm, who were like true pros. MC on the night was our own Mary Doyle, who did a fantastic job. Well done to all concerned in organising such a great night.

KILLINICK PROJECT RECEIVES AWARD

The Killinick Project were delighted to attend and receive an award in the Wexford County Council Environmen­tal and Keep Wexford Beautiful Competitio­n. This is an annual event organised by Wexford County Council where local voluntary groups and Tidy Towns committees are awarded for their work during the year. It is judged in July each year. The Killinick project received third place under the category of Best New Entry in the Keep Wexford Beautiful Awards.

The award was accepted by three committee members Patsy Egan, Joanne Fenelon and James Molloy chairperso­n of the the Killinick Project. James comments: ‘We are so pleased to be among other community’s who put so much effort into their town or village. It was wonderful to see pictures of Killinick up on big screens and it gives us great encouragem­ent going forward’.

The Killinick project would like to thank Wexford County Council, Our local councillor­s, local business owners in the village of course the fantastic volunteers who take pride in helping us out with clean-ups. A huge Thank you From the Tomhaggard Women’s Shed and Social Centre to all who supported our Fashion show at the Riverbank House Hotel on Tuesday, November 12. The proceeds of which will go towards the upgrade of the Social Centre. Everyone enjoyed a glass of Prosecco while watching a fantastic array of style from local boutiques such as the clothes Line, Pamela Scotts, Charlys Company, Barnardos Bridal Wear and men’s suit hire from Corcoran’s menswear.

Thank you to all the local businesses who donated the wonderful raffle prizes, To all our models who looked stunning, to Liz Hogan makeup artist, Ballycogle­y Players for the lighting and music, and to Wexford Co. Co for the staging. Peter Mark for the hairstyles. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make it a great night out. Thank You to you all.

BALLYCOGLE­Y HALL

The Ballycogle­y Hall Committee

were delighted with the large attendance at the newly renovated hall for the performanc­e of the Ballycogle­y Players three oneact plays on November 9. It was great to have them back again, after an absence of 18 years, to the venue where they started 44 years ago. We were treated to a very entertaini­ng night by the talented group. Congratula­tions to Con and Mary Doyle, who were honoured on the occasion by the Ballycogle­y Players for their years of involvemen­t with the group since the beginning. The hall committee wishes to thank all the local volunteers who gave their time to help get the hall in order for the performanc­e and those who helped with the tea etc.

We are looking forward to many more entertaini­ng events in the hall in the future. Coming up in December we will have our family Jingle Jog on December 15.

TOMHAGGARD SOCIAL CENTRE

The amount raised at the Fashion Show in the Riverbank House Hotel last Tuesday was €2,029. The committee and Women’s Shed would like to thank everyone who made it such a success. The Clothes Line, Pamela Scotts, Charley’s Company, Corcoran’s Menswear and Barbados’s Bridal businesses for supplying the clothes, volunteer Models, Liz Hogan Make-up, Peter Marks Hair Salon. Pamela Scotts sponsored the Door Prize and Tommy and staff of the Riverbank were a great help in setting up.

The Raffle Prizes were sponsored by Shinelle Hair Salon, Kelly’s Hotel Rosslare, Clarine Cosmetics, Gainford Academy, Sheehan’s Cash and Carry, Value Centre Cash and Carry, Meadows and Byrne, Sam McCauley’s, Grants Pharmacy, catwalk supplied by Wexford Co Co, Sound and Lighting by Ballycogle­y Players. Thank you to everyone who attended and purchased tickets in support of the event. The funds raised are going towards upcoming developmen­t projects at the centre.

Our annual cake sale and raffle in aid of the day to day running of our parish in Ballymore-Mayglass will be held on Saturday evening, November 30, before and after Mass in Mayglass at 7.30 p.m. ,and on Sunday morning Mass in Ballymore at 10 a.m. Donations of confection­ary would be very much appreciate­d. SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY.

The Ballymore-Mayglass Seniors Christmas party will be held in the Coast Hotel, Rosslare on Sunday, December 1, at 2 p.m. Tickets will be distribute­d in the coming weeks.

Also tickets for the parish council Christmas Draw will be available. The draw will take place on December 15 in Ballymore. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

SCRAP SATURDAY

Ballymore Hall and St Fintan’s are running a scrap Saturday on November 30 at Bolgers Ballycogle­y from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All steel, batteries, farm machinery, old cars etc are accepted. No plastic, wood, glass, tyres or electric appliances are accepted.

BEREAVEMEN­T

Deepest Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Bernard (Ber) Keane Muchstown Broadway, who sadly died during the recent past and whose remains were laid to rest in Ballymore cemetery following his funeral Mass in St Catherine’s church Tacumshane. May he rest in peace.

BINGO

The St Fintan’s GAA Club have decided to run bingo sessions in Ballycogle­y hall on Sundays at 7.30 p.m. The first session will be held on November 24 and we ask that you come along to support the club, enjoy and evening of fun and take your chance on winning the jackpot or any of the many other valuable prizes. ALL BLACKS AFC

This week’s lucky winner of €230 in our split-the-pot draw is Mark Roche, congratula­tions Mark and thanks for supporting. The most recent draw took place in Coopers Inn on November 18. Entry is only €2 with envelopes available in many local businesses.

Massive congratula­tions to our under-14 girls Meave Kenny, Tara Cullen and Ashling Roche, who were part of the Presentati­on Wexford team that won the Leinster Final after six games today and now look forward to the all-Ireland finals. Well done girls - a massive achievemen­t.

Well done to our under-12 girls who hosted Rosslare Rangers ‘yellow’at home in region D on a cold night in Casey Park - so a big well done to both teams for putting on a great game. Our girls came away with great win with goals coming from Eva, Ava, Jolie, Hannah, Jessica, Ruby and Rayna. well done to all 12 girls involved.

Our under-9s eventually got their season started after a couple of weeks of bad weather and welcomed Bridge Rovers to Casey Park, where both teams put on a great performanc­e of football for all. Well done to all nine of our Blacks girls involved.

Our under-16 first team travelled to Bunclody and came away with a point after 2-2 draw with a Kennedy Cullen getting on the score sheet and the other an OG. Well done all involved.

Our second under-16 team travelled to New Ross Town but unfortunat­ely to home side proved to strong up front and won 6-1, with the Blacks goal coming from Aoibheann Rankin. Well done to all involved.

The ladies’ team travelled to Enniscorth­y to take on Ajax in the Division 3 league. The ladies went one up through a Natasha Martin but unfortunat­ely the home side got two before halftime. The ladies piled on pressure but unfortunat­ely could not get the equaliser in very tough game where we probably should have came away with a point even the win. Well done to all 13 ladies involved.

ST FINTAN’S

For all our early morning walkers/runners. The community walking track lights now come on each morning at 6 a.m. till natural daylight. The track lights are on seven evenings a week from 5 p.m. till 9.45 p.m. Also for your informatio­n one lap is equal 575 metres or 0.575 kilometers or just over one third of a mile.
