Ballymurn Community Centre this family occasion saw the locals come out in force to enjoy some quality home baking and support a project close to all of their hearts.

But it wasn’t just cakes and buns on offer, there were vegetables, jams, chutneys and even blocks for the fire available for those in attendance.

And, according to a member of the Community Centre Committee, this neighbourly spirit was what made the event such a success.

‘We were delighted with how it went, there was a great mix of community there, young and old. The preparation would have gone on for weeks beforehand, a lot of people baked, donated money, helped to organise the day,’ the member said.

Furthermore, the occasion attracted all types of people.

‘It was a real community day, everyone got involved; there was babies, teenagers, older people, a crowd of young lads came in and had their tea, there was even a couple there who’d got engaged the night before.’

The committee member confirmed a figure of €3,500 had been raised for the centre and said, ‘We would like to thank

Annis and Mick Kehoe for all their hard work in organising this event, the Forge committee for the use of their premises which was a perfect venue and everyone who donated, supported and helped out on the day, we are extremely grateful.
