Don’t panic – local shops have you covererd

-

It’s the big countdown to Christmas and yes, it’s becoming hectic, but don’t worry, Wexford shops are packed with gifts and goodies to ensure you have a festive season to remember, with the minimum of fuss.

From the Christmas dinner, the drinks party and the festive outfit to special presents for family and friends, local shops have got you covered.

It’s the highlight of the year for retailers whose windows and shelves are packed with glittering gifts to make your purchasing choices easier, leaving you time to relax and enjoy some hospitality in one of the town’s fantastic hotels, cafes and restaurants.

The Christmas season got off to an explosive start with a fireworks display and Santa’s arrival at the end of November and the centre of Wexford has been a busy tinseltown ever since.

The level of activity is set to increase even more in the days before December 25 so expect plenty of hustle and bustle.

To take some of the stress out of frenzied last-minute festive shopping, Wexford Borough District Council has announced that parking will be free in all public car parks in the town on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, December 21, 22, 23 and 24.

There is no substitute for visiting local shops at Christmas, browsing through all the goods on display and availing of that important personal touch from a friendly member of staff.

Afterwards, you return home, bags of gifts in hand, with no need to worry about whether something will be delivered on time.

Another good reason to shop local is that much of what you spend stays locally so in effect, you are giving the gift of Christmas to the local economy and helping to secure the jobs of family members and friends.

Shoppers can combine their retail expeditions with some festive fun as the Wexford Winterland Festival is in full swing.

The attractions include a Christmas Express Train running through the streets of the town every day, the McCauley’s Wexford on Ice skating rink on the quayfront and Santa’s North Pole Experience with an enchanted forest and the elves village and workshop., also on the quayfront.

So, what are you waiting for?. Get your skates on and get shopping!.
