WINTER SOLSTICE CEREMONY

The Hope Cancer Support Centre will be holding their annual winter Solstice Ceremony of Light and Healing in the Irish National Heritage Park, Ferrycarri­g, Wexford on Saturday, December 21, at 7.30 p.m. Please come along and be part of something special.

The following times are proposed Masses for Christmas Day: 7 p.m. Christmas Eve – Glynn. 9 p.m. Christmas Eve – Barntown. 8 a.m. Christmas Day – Glynn. 9 a.m. Christmas Day – Barntown. 10 a.m. Christmas Day – Glynn. 11.15 a.m. Christmas Day – Barntown. 12.30 p.m. Christmas Day – Knockeen Nursing Home. 1 p.m. Christmas Day – LATIN Mass Barntown.

ZUMBA-WELL DANCE AND MOVEMENT

Last classes for seniors, adults and Kids takes place today, Tuesday, December 17, at the usual times. See you all back in 2020 for some more movin’ and groovin’ (Tuesday, January 07). Keep an eye on my Facebook page Saoirses.

Academy for special offers and details of an exciting new competitio­n. Thank you to everyone for your support since September – I hope you all enjoyed the dancing as much as I did. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to all.

GLYNN NATIONAL SCHOOL

Christmas Arrangemen­ts – December 17 and 18: Christmas play for third, fourth, fifth and sixth classes at 7.30 p.m. in the hall. On behalf of the school community we wish to thank the parish and hall committee for the use of their facilities. Tickets for the shows on December 17 and 18 (third class to sixth class) are on sale. Families of participat­ing children will get first preference and will be limited to four per family. Any surplus ticket will be go on sale on Monday, December 16.

Christmas Jumper Fundraisin­g initiative – December 19: The Students Council are organising a Christmas Jumper Day when children are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper, hat, tie, T-shirt, etc. All proceeds will go to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Please donate as much or as little as you wish and do not go to any expense.

School Holidays – December 20: School closes at 12.30 p.m. for the Christmas holidays. January 6: School reopens.

Parents’ associatio­n – Please support the annual PA Christmas Raffle, which will be held on the night of the final show. Raffle cards are enclosed with this newsletter. Please return on or before December 18.

School Building – Building work on the new classroom and two new SET rooms will commence on January 6 the current fourth class prefab has been donated to Killurin Rowing Club. Between Christmas and summer, second class and third class will be in Room 11 (the present third class room) which will be divided in two and fourth class will go to room one (the present second class room). Apologies for the inconvenie­nce. It is envisaged that all work will be completed before the end of August.

SEASONS GREETINGS

I would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone for their contributi­ons to the Glynn-Barntown district notes during 2019. Whether you send weekly notices or just the odd one, they are all very much appreciate­d. Thank you also to the readers of the notes and as always, I continue to value your feed-back.
