FUNDRAISIN­G COFFEE MORNING

A most successful and enjoyable coffee morning and sale of Christmas cakes, puddings, mince pies, jams, etc together with vegetables, firewood and wreaths took place at Kyle Forge on Saturday, December 7, Organised by local lady Annis Kehoe, all proceeds from same will go to the local Crossabeg-Ballymurn Community centre developmen­t at Garrywilli­am, Crossabeg. The Forge was most welcoming with a roaring fire and plenty of cups of tea or coffee on the go together with fancy cakes and buns.

Business got under way by 9.45 a.m. and continued unabated for the next three hours or so. During the morning, raffle tickets were also on sale with lots of good prizes on offer. Thanks are extended to all who helped out in any way, those who catered for all the guests, those who generously provided items for sale on the day, those who attended and bought so generously, and also supported the raffle.

Annis is also to be commended for the many hours spent baking and getting everything prepared for the occasion. It was a formidable undertakin­g, but one that Annis has down to a fine art. Well done, Annis.

The community centre committee also were appreciati­ve of Annis’s efforts and her generosity in donating all funds to their fundraisin­g campaign.

CONFESSION­S/MASS TIMES

Confession­s for Christmas will take place in Ballymurn church on Tuesday, December 17, at 7.30 p.m and in Crossabeg church on Monday, December 23, at 7.30 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass will be celebrated in Ballymurn church at 9 p.m. and Mass on Christmas Day is at 10 a.m. Christmas Eve Mass in Crossabeg church will be celebrated at 11 p.m and Mass on Christmas Day will be celebrated at 11.15 a.m.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Ferrycarri­g hotel was most festive and welcoming on Sunday evening, December 8, when the annual Christmas party for the senior members of the community took place. Over 90 guests and the committee members sat down to a lovely dinner served up by the staff of the hotel.

Following the meal the guests were treated to some lovely renditions of Christmas carols and other songs by the children’s choir from Crossabeg national school and relaxed and enjoyed each others company for some time afterwards. The honour of cutting the cake went to Rev Arthur Minnion and parish priest Fr Jim Finn.

The organising committee wish to thank most sincerely the management and staff of the Ferrycarri­g hotel for the warm welcome extended to their guests and the wonderful meal served up; to all who contribute­d so generously to their fundraisin­g raffle and gave generous donations for the raffle, to Philip Kennedy, principal of Crossabeg national school for arranging for the children’s choir to attend the event, to their parents and to Ms Niamh Cullen, who conducted the choir on the night. All in all a very enjoyable occasion for everyone. Table raffle winners included Patricia Byrne, Susan Minnion, Kathleen Hayes, Catherine Berney, Fr Jim Finn, Patricia McDonald, Seán Redmond, Josie Redmond.
