CONDOLENCES

We send our deepest sympathy to the family of the late Maeve Mythen (née Fitzpatrick) Newcastle, Crossabeg, who died on Thursday, January 2, Maeve had been battling illness for some time but yet her death came as quite a shock to her family and friends.

To her husband Mike, daughter Tina, sister Maria, brothers Michael and Jimmy, brothersin-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, relatives and friends, we extend our condolences. She was also predeceased by her late brother junior. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

FERRYCARRIG 5 ROAD RACE

There was a huge turnout of walkers and runners from around the county and beyond for the annual and ever popular Ferrycarrig 5 Road Race which took place on Sunday, January 5.

The Crossabeg-Ballymurn community centre committee wish to extend their deep appreciation and thanks to their main Sponsors Sheridan Insurance and other generous sponsors and to Ferrycarrig Park for the use of their facilities.

As always, they said, the event could not have been possible without the assistance of the many volunteers who gave up their weekend to prepare in advance. There was a marvellous community spirit, from the committee members to the stewards, to the parking attendants, race officials and those providing food and helping out with post race refreshments. Preparations are already under way for the 2021 event.
