The first meeting of 2020 was held on Monday the sixth last in Camross Hall with Mary Kelly presiding. Sympathies were extended to Mary Margt Roche and Berna Cadogan on recent bereavemen­ts. Minutes, correspond­ence and finance were dealt with by Margt Nolan, Mary Nolan and Dympna Kelly.

Guild members will visit St John’s Hospital for sing song and chat on Sunday, January 19, leaving Camross at 1.30 p.m. There will be a Craft Night at Mairead O’Gormans on this Wednesday, January 15, at 7.30 p.m., members bring your unfinished pieces.

Mary Somers, Federation Arts and crafts promoter has organised a Heron Making class for Saturday, January 25, in Oylegate Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with teacher Imogen Stafford. For more details contact Mary at 087 9120667.

Our annual Irish Night to raise funds for 2020 Seniors Christmas party will be held in Rochfords

Lounge on Friday, March 13, this will be the March Trad Night and not to be missed. Alice Whitty won the competitio­n for the nicest slice of Christmas Cake and Ann O’Gorman and Dympna Kelly served us a delicious tea on Nollag na mBan. A game of ‘Fun Bingo’ followed the meeting.

Our February meeting will be held on Monday, February 3. 8 p.m. in Camross Hall, new members are always welcome.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

Cast and crew of ‘The Year of the Hiker’ have been busy rehearsing, gathering props, costumes, designing sets etc all over the holiday season. The first performanc­e in Camross Hall on Friday, January 31, will arrive quickly.

GAA CLUB NEWS

The lotto jackpot wasn’t won on Tuesday night. Five matchthree winners shared €200. The next draw is on January 21 at 8.30. The jackpot will remain at €14,000 till we get a winner but the reserve jackpot will keep going up while we wait. It’s now up to €5,000. Please encourage any family or friends living away from the area to support the draw through the online Taghmon-Camross page on the KlubFunder website. The deadline for online sales is at 6.30 on draw night and the minimum spend on the online system is €6. Tickets can also be bought from usual outlets.

The club AGM will take place at the centre on Sunday, January 19, at 3 p.m. Deadline for nomination­s and motions has now passed (Friday, January 10). Please ensure any nominees are informed if you have put their names forward for club posts.

LADIES FOOTBALL

We are running our Walking to Keep Fit 2020 in conjunctio­n with Operation Transforma­tion! It will be taking place down in the centre every Monday and Wednesday night from 7:30pm-8:30pm starting on Monday January 20. So grab your walking buddies and get ready to kick start your fitness regime for 2020.
