SHEIL KINNEAR EXPANDS FOLLOWING MERGER

-

SHEIL KINNEAR, one of the largest and most progressive accountancy firms in the SouthEast, has expanded its client base and workforce through a recent merger with Wexford accountants O’Gorman Cosgrave & Associates. Under the terms of a deal completed in September 2019, the business, clients and staff of O’Gorman Cosgrave & Associates have transferred to Sheil Kinnear. Founder and Managing Partner Aidan O’Gorman (FCCA, AITI) has joined Sheil Kinnear’s board as a director and shareholder where he serves alongside Anita Power, Frances Roche, Marese Stafford, Tim Quinlivan, Michael McDonald and David O’Connor.

Aidan who has 25 years of experience in practice and industry and extensive expertise in auditing, accounting and taxation, is a Fellow of the ACCA and a member of the Irish Tax Institute.

Sheil Kinnear believes that this move further consolidates the firm’s position in the South-East and supports our strategic growth ambitions. Our focus continues to be on building strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients and delivering services that really add value as they develop and grow their businesses. The merged firm now has 30 employees with a wide range of professional qualifications and extensive experience and expertise. We are confident that this merger will help ensure a successful and prosperous future both for our clients and for Sheil Kinnear.

Aidan said, “This is an exciting move which will bring great opportunities for our clients and staff. Sheil Kinnear is large enough to handle complex cases yet small enough to give clients personal attention. We are delighted to join the firm and look forward to working with the team to support our clients and build for the future.”

The recent merger comes in the wake of a number of other recent developments including a series of senior appointments which saw Frances Roche (FCCA), Anita Power (FCCA, AITI) and David O’Connor (ACA), join Sheil Kinnear’s leadership team, bringing with them a wealth of professional experience and extending the services and supports available to the firm’s clients.

In 2018, Sheil Kinnear formed an association with Oury Clark, a UKbased multidisciplinary practice. This is particularly beneficial for clients commencing or expanding operations in the UK. It also supports UK-based companies seeking to establish operations or relocate in Ireland. It is also very timely with Brexit finally commencing at the end of this month.

As clients grow their businesses and expand into new markets, the range of services that the firm provides also grows. Sheil Kinnear aims to deliver ‘Big 4’ levels of expertise at regional rates.

Sheil Kinnear is one of the South-East’s longest established and best-known businesses, having been founded by Joseph Lawton in the nineteenth century. The firm’s headquarters are in Wexford where it occupies 6,000 square feet in Sinnottstown Business Park, Drinagh. It has branch offices in Enniscorthy and Arklow and is an active member of the Charter Group, a network of ten chartered accountancy firms committed to providing services of the highest professional standards. The firm offers a comprehensive suite of accounting and business support services, covering everything from accounts, audit and assurance to corporate finance, payroll, tax, litigation support, insolvency and business recovery.
