ROAD RACE

Massive credit has to go to Bobby Redmond and his team for the fantastic work they put in for their annual Tara Bishop 5k Memorial Run held recently. The run is going from strength to strength with 419 entries this year. It is really well supported by the local community with the proceeds going to Temple Street hospital and Ballymurn school and it was great to see so many St Killian’s athletes competing in the event.

Niall Sheil capped off a great January with another win but had to work hard with a scorching early pace set by St Senan’s athletic club athlete Conor Rochford. Niall was up for the challenge and finished in a course record time of 15min 48sec with Conor taking second in 16min 31sec and Slaney Olympic’s Darragh Cloake taking third in a time of 17min 09sec.

Brian O’Shaughnessy (St Killian’s) finished in 12th place in a time of 18min 16sec with John Egan hot on his heels to take 16th in 18min 50sec. Chris McCathy, fresh from his cross country exploits was home in just over 19 minutes to take 20th place with our juvenile superstar, Emma McCarthy showing her class to finish in a superb 31st place and fourth lady overall. Keelin Doyle finished in 206th place with Amelia Kavanagh being expertly guided by Gail to finish in 328th and 329th position with Jack and Joel Warren not far behind to take 368th and 369th.
