GLYNN NATIONAL SCHOOL

SPLIT THE POT – Congratula­tions to Mark Donovan, who won €142 in the latest split-the-pot. The next split-the-pot will take place at the Tea Party on Sunday, February 16, in Glynn Hall.

ENROLMENTS 2020-2021 – Glynn NS are now accepting applicatio­ns for enrolment. Forms are available from the school office 053 9128449. Please return the applicatio­n forms for junior infants September 2020 as soon as possible.

VALENTINE’S TEA PARTY – Glynn NS will host a Tea Party on Sunday, February 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Glynn Parish Hall. Proceeds from the Party will go towards the school Developmen­t Fund. Tickets are priced as follows: Family €10; Adult €5; Child €3. All support appreciate­d.

HURLING LEAGUE – The school hurling league for boys and girls is up and running with teams selected to represent Cork, Limerick, Wexford, Tipperary, Waterford, Dublin, Kilkenny and Galway Matches will take place after school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

5K RUN – Please note that the 5k run will be held on March 8.

BARNTOWN NATIONAL SCHOOL

BARNTOWN’S GOT TALENT – On Wednesday, February 5, the school hall will host this year’s Barntown’s Got Talent Show. Over 60 acts auditioned and 17 acts were chosen for the final. We wish them all the very best of luck. The show starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6.45 p.m. The charity which will benefit from the show is Aoibheann’s Pink Tie. A bucket collection will take place on the night. Refreshmen­ts will also be served – thanks to our supportive parents’ associatio­n.

ENROLMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 2020 – Letters were sent out this week to parents of all children who applied to start in junior infants next September. If you have not made contact with the school we ask that you do so as soon as is possible. Thank you.

THREE ROCKS TRAIL RELAUNCH DATE.

Barntown Heritage Group has decided to officially relaunch the Three Rocks Trail on Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m. This date will coincide with the 222-year anniversar­y of the famous 1798 Battle of Three Rocks.

The group also plans to hold the first official walk with guides across the upgraded 13.5km trail on Sunday, May 31.

Further details on these events will be published over the coming months, so we ask you to save the dates, as it promises to be a great weekend.

SOCIAL DANCING

Learn to jive, waltz, Quick Step and many more dances. Due to popular demand our social dancing classes resume in the Parish Hall Glynn Monday evening, January 13, at 8 p.m. Class caters for beginners and advanced. . For further informatio­n contact Aileen at 086 8469443.

ZUMBA

Get fit to the beat. Come to a Zumba session with Saoirse in Barntown Community Centre. Kids Zumba on Tuesdays 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. Adult Zumba 7.15 to 8.15 p.m. on Tuesdays. Give it a try – it much more than a dance. For a more gentle workout, pop down to our Seniors Fitness and Movement class from 11 a.m. to midday also on Tuesdays.
